Things fell apart! I worked briefly with the team at Gee for 5 months as their creative lead. The team was excellent, solid friends, hard working.That’s were things “fell apart”. Design procedures were severely outdated by several years. Furniture on close inspect was torn or dirty. Someone get me a gold hammer and nails to fix things up.Staff bullying by the boss seemed to be normal.When your a new contractor and the boss threatens you with paying your invoices, not once but three times, relationships wither.When Ben got upset, he tended to shout at you, make vile threatening comments and then expect you to come talk to him later when he’s feeling better to patch things up....did I miss something.? It’s a backward approach, most of the senior staff had to tolerate this at some point.I watched seniors become complacent and most resign. When people start leaving at a fast rate, team morale drops as friends leave. I watched mid weights and junior become fearful of their jobs.When I first started we had a team of 20, when I left it had fallen to almost half that number, in just under 5 months. Looking forward another 5 months later, there were 4 people left. Things fell apart.I think the main cancer to Gee Digital was Ben Goldhammer, the boss. When you act like a bully to your staff and love money more than people “things fall apart”
