Nice place to visit. Park well kept with tables and BBQ. A public toilet that's kept clean. Lots of history here and a few signs showing the history. Steps down to the tunnel however tunnel is fenced off about ten feet in so you can't walk through. Well worth a look

Interesting place, worth a visit although it's a pity that bat colony is more important for local government than keeping historical landmark" in a better condition.Tunnel can be accessed from both openings however left side (via metal steps) is much shorter and quite stinky (bat poo I assume) while right one is much longer

If you have heath issues drive to the tunnel mouth the walk is much shorter. I wish I'd know this.

Great place to visit when travelling nearby. Would not recommend a trip to this location as the sole destination. Please note that only light rain for 10-20 minutes is needed to result in seriously muddy walking conditions on approach to the tunnel due to the cut-out terrain of the old rail alignment. There is minimal way finding signage. If descending from the upper ‘car park’ via the forest trail, then right at the bottom of the slope after the three stairs.

Nice easy walk down one side but as you can't walk right through the tunnel you have to go back the same way and then go down the other side which is down a big staircase.Don't envy the people from years gone by, that would have been dammed hard work digging all that out through rock by hand.

Great little walk. A bit smelly near the tunnel expected with locals tho.Bbq area looked clean and well looked after.Long drop, is a long drop.

You just have to love these forgotten but truly valuable slices of Queensland history. Easy side trip on your way to the Bunya Mountains. Pity you can't walk through, but understand it is for the protection of the bats, and to stop all the graffiti / tagger idiots.

Muntapa Tunnel
Down a short dirt road is the Muntapa tunnel. The grass or should I say weeds were very overgrown. It was hard to see the walking tracks. There are picnic tables, toilets and bbqs. The tunnel it self is well worth a look. It is blocked off half way due to a bat colony. There’s plenty of story boards with plenty of great information.
