Although they claim to be the best in pragmatic karate in Cairns, there are plenty of other better options around that aren't in such a toxic environment and as ego driven as this place. I should have noticed the fact that they couldn't retain adult females in this club, or many adults at all in the Southside Dojo specifically and should have seen the red flags. Plenty of other karate schools are much better options that teach straight forward, uncomplicated practical self defence which aren't a stretch of the imagination.I was expelled from this club after over 3 years of dedicated training and administrative roles as a secretary. The instructor highly encouraged me to help make decisions and do a lot of the background work for the club so he didn't have to do it himself. I willingly helped. I was then recently sent a letter of termination of membership without any prior warning or consultation regarding any breach of code of conduct on my behalf. The termination letter stipulated reasons which were different to the final correspondence to my appeal, which were also inconsistent with what was said to the other instructor and again, different to what was said to other committee members. There was a huge disparity in reasons given in notice/correspondence to justify my termination. All false allegations with no evidence, as well as victimisation.This is because they needed to desperately create a false narrative to justify terminating my membership after the instructor sent me an inappropriate meme on instagram and his wife had a problem with it. I suffered the consequences of his inappropriate actions and got kicked out of this club.The committee blindly followed this instructor despite lack of evidence and in turn breached many rules stated in legislation with regards to running an incorporated association, specifically, termination of a membership. They even admitted to it, but they decided to go with it anyway.Watch out, they're good at making themselves look like the victim.I have all the evidence of everything I've stated above.Save yourself the energy and don't even bother with this plac

Focuses on the individual, their needs and strengths, offering practical experience while considering a large number of variables that may exist in the real world. Very welcoming to all ages and abilities. A close and supportive group that are welcoming and go the extra mile to ensure you understand a concept. Great examples of peer modelling as well as instruction as a whole group. It isn't just teaching karate or instilling discipline, it is a whole person experience for the advancement of so many physical and mental skillsets.

This is a serious karate dojo where everyone trains hard, respects themselves and others and learns meaningful technique.After having let my own martial arts training slide into the background of life for a decade, I was looking for somewhere for my son to train.
