The Highland Fly

We recently spent two fabulous days with Nick May of The Highland Fly in fly fishing in the fabulous Central Highlands of Tasmania. I was with my 18 year old son who had never fished before. Nick however could not have been more patient or a better tutor or, for that matter better company. It was my third fly-fishing trip and each time I've chosen to use a local guide and Nick was by far the best I've used. The Tasmanian Central Highlands and Miena is also a stunning place to fish. I cannot recommend Nick, the Highland Fly or the area enough. The place is a hidden gem. It's not surprising the area is shortly hosting the World Fly Fishing Championships.

Absolutely brilliant! Nick's instruction is excellent. And he's great company as well. We fished on a privately owned inland lake. You can see the trout jumping. But catching them is a challenge - just as it should be. If you're lucky enough to score CWA lemon slice for lunch- even better. A highly recommended addition to your Tasmanian itinerary.
