Windsor Road Thrift Shop
I’m actually heartbroken they have changed management. The store is sparse now and seems empty when before it was full. There used to be a room at the back where there were book toys and clothes for children and I could let my toddler pick their own things while I looked through the clothes. Now I have to leave her in a walkway near breakables so I can rummage through a tall cage of toys, and hold her with one hand while I try to flip through the rack over in the main area, and the books are all up high in a sparse room where the old kids room was. It’s so sad seeing so much room wasted when it used to be filled with treasure.Hardly any toys left and they are all up high where kids can’t see them.I miss the crockery section. And I miss the charming old “prayer request” box that used to be under the counter.Sometimes you don’t realise how magical something is until it’s been destroyed

This had long been my fave shop. Warning to those planning to return, they have thrown out so much of their stock and what they have kept is low quality and over priced. So sad. I will miss the old shop.

You have to go. Affordable, tidy, clean, friendly place. My favourite Brisbane op shop.

Been going here for years! So sad that it has changed. Yes, it’s clean and organised yet the “magic” of rummaging is gone. Before, you can never leave the store empty handed but with my last two visits, i was surprised i haven’t got anything. Fewer stocks and nothing much to look at especially if you drive afar. Yes, staff are friendly and prices still quite affordable however the store itself could have been better and more exciting :(

I'm sad the most of the stock has been removed.I was looking for a sugar bowl and milk jug on my last visit. Last year I would have had multiple options for both these items. This time there was neither so I left empty handed.I am also sad the fill-a-bag rack is gone. Where am I going to buy my painting/gardening clothes now?Just in general it is a bit sterile and soulless.I have been going here regularly since I was a child, over 20 years, but I don't think I'll go back, it just doesn't offer the variety in need.

I've been going here for years and like many I was struck by how much it has changed. I loved the lady who ran it, we often chatted about gardening and I'm sad to see her go but all the two star reviews are just petty and frankly wrong!Yes you used to be able to have a good rummage, but the stuff you rummaged past to find gold was often garbage that nobody wanted, and I've seen the same stuff sitting there for years. Now someone else has shifted the rubbish so we can see the gold all over the shop. The prices are still great, the ladies that run it have done an amazing job, the layout is similar and makes sense to us regulars while newcomers can clearly see what's on offer.I was fully prepared to be underwhelmed from what I'd heard locally but I was highly impressed. It was broken and it needed fixing and the new management have nailed it!

I am absolutely heart broken over what has happened to this thrift shop. Gone is the $2.50 section. Gone are all the fabulous books. Gone are the variety of shoes. The way it has been rearranged is practically useless for people bringing their kids to pick out a toy because they cannot reach them, and the back room was a safe place they could sit and play while their parents looked around. But most importantly of all, gone is the sense of community and love that this shop gave to all the regulars and new visitors. It is apparent that whomever took over wasn't interested in the community that has grown by the people who have been frequenting this shop for years and years, most importantly because of who was sitting at the door to greet you, the true heart and soul of this shop and community. No longer quirky, welcoming or fun. Yes, it is tidy, but there is a saying If it's not broken don't fix it". It wasn't broken

This space has been renovated and is so much smarter and inviting. As before, there is still the drop-off room for donations as well as the bins out by the road.

This is by far my favourite op shop in Brisbane! I've never left empty handed! I always find really cool pieces here. Some photos from my most recent visit. The first pic are items between $3-5 and the second pic are all $2.50. Their children clothings are only 50 cents each! You'll find plenty of branded items from Zara, Seed, Portman, Country Road etc. The ladies that work here are super lovely...shout out to Cheryl and Ellen!

Has undergone change and renovation. No complaints as the stock is still good and the prices have remained reasonable for now and the new staff are so lovely and friendly and doing a great job keeping everything organised. I really enjoy how everything is sorted by size. This was my favourite op shop in all of Brisbane. It had been one of the last true ‘thrift shops’ where you had to rummage to find the gold. I really hope this isn’t the start of a transition to becoming like every other so called ‘op shop’ in Brisbane. I really hope it doesn’t implement a gradual rising of prices until it becomes over priced and all the stock is picked over by the volunteers so it never makes it out of the sorting room. Please don’t change anymore! I will definitely keep visiting I just hope it stays a humble and happy Thrift Shop where everyone can find something they can afford. I really miss beautiful Shirley.
