Readings Carlton

Obviously just been renovated with a modern concrete floor, loft industrial feel. In addition to books they have a record and music corner at the back of the store. Super busy and full of people even at 8pm at night. I will be back. The range of books was good from history, design modern fiction, oversized books including a range of gifts.

I like to stop by at Readings when I’m in Carlton. They have a nice selection of books with a wide range of editions to choose from. However, I will say it isn’t as big and doesn’t stock nearly as much books as Dymocks on Collins street does, but it isn’t as small as a local QBD either. The books also tend to be a little on the pricier side. Other than that it’s a nice, spacious books shop with a great selection of books.

Loved this bookstore! Staff were very helpful. Lots of options for every reader. Located in a great area to grab a coffee and sit and enjoy your new book!

Definitely the best book story in the area. I live 30 mins away but still the go-to for any books. Massive selection and just nice vibe in store too.First book store I've ever been too that has, next to the science" section

Ahhhh so nice to be in a bright, spacious, and colourful bookshop. Good selection of books and they still sell CDs too.Hope more people will pick up reading from books again.

My favourite bookstore in Melbourne and possibly beyond. I have been buying books from Mark for 40+ years. The remainders table introduced me to many characters I would , otherwise have overlooked. Excellent selection. Warm, knowledgeable and interesting staff. A book reader's haven.

Nice book store. Great that they are open late at night when a new book is needed. Not the biggest selection of sci-fi in stock though, but they can always order it in for you (if you know what you're after)

It's always a treat to spend time in this store. I rarely walk out without a special purchase; there is always an irresistable find, like this one (see photo). A funny and poignant, thought provoking read and recommend the CD to go with it too. Achingly beautiful music to accompany a really beautifully written, deeply meaningful book.

First time to this store. A comprehensive array of books. I could have bought many books that tempted me.Libraries, bookstores and cafes are my 3 favourite places. Readings is surrounded by cafes and restaurants... perfect.I didn't venture in to the children's bookstore next door. My daughter will certainly love to go in there.

I’m always in heaven when I go into a Readings store and no more so in Carlton. Surrounded by great places to eat and the splendid atmosphere of Lygon Street, entering Readings is a hypnotic experience.All genres are covered and the layout of the store with shelves and different heights and keeping things clean and simple works. I do like the lovely notes that are with some books with comments by staff on books they’ve read it all makes for an enjoyable stroll through the aisles.At the rear you can find something for your listening pleasure. Plus throughout the store are cards, cups, carry bags and more.We did have a little competition tonight to find the title of a book that was just meant to catch your eye. See pics and you’ll know what I mean.Staff are always helpful. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Parking? It’s Lygon Street but maybe the parking pixies will look kindly upon you.Enjoy.
