Stevensons Lake

So beautiful, big surprise on the wild road

Such a random cool sight on the road from Norseman to Esperance. Green as of yesterday (Dec22).

Not really much too see,flies almost inhabited my blood flow!

There is actually something special about this lake, back in the 1920s it was one of many watering stops along the Cobb & Co stage route between the new port at Esperance and the up andcoming goldfields of Dundas and Norseman. A reliable source of water year round as can be seen from the water running into the lake in the north west, it made the perfect spot for locating a condenser to turn the salt water into water suitable for watering horses and camels, horses being the main source of transportation at the time. Very little remains of the condensor but the two wells which provided the salt water can still be seen on the north eastern bank. I recommend parking on Eldred road and follow the edge of the salt on the south to view the hand dug wells. To the north of the wells on the opposite side of the lake on higher ground was one of the many overnight stops for travellers from the Port of Esperance heading to the goldfields.

Found this lake along the road and added it to maps,nothing special round it but really nice colour and makes for some nice photos

A lake with amazing colour along the road to Esperance from Norseman. We made a u-turn and have taken so many pictures here. It is worth stopping by for sure. It is 23rd of October. Not sure if the lake is always this colour or not.
