Hill Street Grocer Dodges Ferry
Just completed the last of the Christmas fare and Hill Street Dodges Ferry came to the rescue. The usual exemplary service was at hand and managed to get all of the items on the list. Thank you Hill Street and Merry Christmas to all of the hard working staff at the Dodges Ferry store.

The staff are lovely but the recent changes are not good. The deli removal is a big disappointment, the sun dried tomatoes we bought recently were watery and tasteless. No longer do you stock our favourite nuts. Had to search through packets of ham to find the right amount. Harder to find Marion bay chicken we now buying most of our meat from a butcher in Sorell .

This IGA has changed a lot lately and not always for the better. The loss of the deli has been felt hard by the locals with a fish counter being installed instead. I choose to buy my fish elsewhere. Stock rotation seems to be a problem with some items. The young staff are fabulous, some older staff can be a bit surly.

Lots of interesting produce and fresh vegetables. A bit light on with the free range meat options. Check the use by date on the more unusual grocery items.

The staff are great and friendly, that is not the issue. With the recent renovation you have killed the whole meaning of a Hill Street Grocer by removing the deli and selling pre-packaged foods. I used to come to the store 2-3 time's a week to get my sandwich meats etc. You have now lost a regular customer as I prefer to buy it sliced on the spot. Also pre packaging in butchers paper is not a good idea, you can't see the meat and for all the customer knows it's green. I feel as though by removing the deli, you have made a rookie move. The only reason you have been given 2 stars, is due to the staff.
