Very nice location to take the kids and have a picnic. About the only down-side is the dedicated food/beverage vendors are horrendously overpriced for no good reason.

This is a magic place. Depending on the tide, you can wade out across the sandbar to the middle of the river (unless it's bird breeding season, sometimes it's blocked off to protect them). So much to see, and so many stories. Check out Djunda the Charnok Woman and her long flowing white hair, and walk up from Jenalup (also called Blackwall Reach). This place is a wonderland of nature and it's rich in the history of the people of this land. Magic. Great for kids. Love this place.

The Point Walter Sandbar has a 'Back to Nature' feeling when you walk and wade it as the tide comes in.The Point Walter sandbar has been fenced off at certain times of the year to river users as authorities hope the area will spawn another successful breeding summer for the Australian Fairy Tern.Last year’s season was the most successful in more than a decade for the little birds, with the sandbar supporting more than 100 pairs. But its also one of the few remaining safe breeding zones in Perth for the Australian Fairy Tern, which is about half the size of a typical Seagull and the smallest Tern species to nest in South-western Australia.

Amazing spot to see all the most expensive houses in Perth from the biggest mansion in Mosman Park to Jutland Pde & Vic Ave, Dalkeith. Good for family to visit
