Mainstay Sailing
I attended the RYA Day Skipper course with Terence and Mainstay in the Whitsundays in July 2022, it's a fantastic spot to spend sailing and tuning your skills. We were lucky to have warm 20-30kn winds which was a great test, also some beautiful blue sky 10-15kn conditions. I really enjoyed the night sail and chartwork components. Terence was a great teacher, happy to share a few salty stories and a fantastic cook. I walked away with confidence and a lust to get back sailing as soon as possible.I plan on sitting my RYA Coastal Skipper next year with Mainstay, can't wait.

What an incredible experience in the beautiful Whitsundays with great people. I can’t recommend Mainstay Sailing enough, especially as a complete beginner. Terence is generous, patient and makes you feel safe with his unending knowledge. You will also never go hungry - the food was amazing. Hope to cross paths again!

I got a lot of practical knowledge from the Course, stuff you don’t learn from books. It was a good week, sailing in one of the most beautiful places on earth. I would recommend this over a charter boat!

I just completed my Competent Crew Course with Terence, and the week was better than I could’ve imagined. Terence was an excellent instructor, chef, and friend. I learned so much and had so much fun doing it. It was clear that we were in well-trained hands. Can’t wait to do my Day Skipper!

Awesome experience! Terence is vastly experienced & knowledgeable (not to mention an amazing ‘host’ & chef!). I gained confidence & knowledge of sailing & seamanship in general, in a safe & comfortable environment … & a lot of fun was had along the way! The Mainstay Sailing training ‘ground’ of the Whitsunday Islands can’t be beaten!

It was great sailing with Mainstay and Terence is extremely knowledgeable and generous with his sailing experience and stories to go with it! Simply magnificent meals in gorgeous Whitsunday settings. I learned heaps, built my confidence and understanding of boat handling, and increased my passion for sailing. Highly recommend Terence and the team at Mainstay for sailing instruction and a memorable experience on the water.

Couldn't recommend Mainstay sailing more! Terence is an incredibly knowledgeable teacher and Ron is organised and prompt with his replies. We completed the Day Skipper course and learnt so much in only 5 days. They are now helping us with navigating ICC memberships which is much appreciated. As a bonus Terence is a wonderful cook ensuring that we were well fed for the whole week. Thank you to the team at Mainstay Sailing!

After completing competent crew in November, I knew immediately that I wanted to come back and do day skipper with Mainstay. Having now finished day skipper- I could not recommend Terence and Ron more to anyone that was thinking about sailing!Incredible sailing experience in the most beautiful location.There's also a reason that every review mentions the food as Terence is as good at cooking as he is sailing and teaching!Extremely helpful and knowledgeable- Terenece and Ron also organised us to complete our radio licence at the same time.Would give more than 5 stars if it was possible, thank you so much guys!
