Pilu at Freshwater
Beautiful venue great for functions. Enjoyed the large group set menu which had a generous amount of food but felt the food itself did not live up to the hype and high reviews. Food was good but nothing amazing especially for the price.

We held my sisters bridal lunch at Pilu. The staff were so accomodating and helpful. The event management team were onto every detail and allowed us to have such a beautiful day.The food was outstanding, and the wines were delicious.Thankyou so much.

Pilu at Freshwater
We dined at this place in February 2022 and it was a marvellous experience! Everything was perfect. To celebrate our anniversary, we went back in May 2023 and it was a different story. Firstly, the menu posted on their website was different from the one we were served (we did the Sardinian experience) and it was almost the same we had in Feb 2022. The snacks were good, but the coral trout was not as good as the kingfish dish from a year ago. It really went downhill with the pasta dish (which was perfect the other time). Fregola was nice, but the lobster seemed like it had been re-heated from the day before. It was chewy and burnt and nothing like we had the year before. Please see the photos attached. Really disappointing given the price point and given our perfect experience of a year ago.

Had lunch there on Sunday to celebrate my birthday. The food was nice but portions tiny for the price, I'm not sure it's value for money.The wine selection was fabulous, and I was pleasantlg surprised to see my favourite wine from Mudgee on the list.The birthday truffles were also a lovely gesture.As some of the other reviews mentioned, I also had issues at the register. I had an entertainment book discount which and then used a gift card I was given for my birthday. They did not want to accept 2 discounts" for the order.I was embarrassed that i had to argue that a gift card is not a discount but "cash like." Also heard the comment "no tip"

It was an exceptional experience at Pilu. The venue is outstanding, and service was great.We were unexpectedly treated to desert prepared at our table by Giovanni Pilu, now that was brilliant!The food was better than most 5 star experiences we have had throughout the world so what more could we want. Highly recommend to all.

Amazing service amazing food I highly recommend it was expensive but when you’re getting fresh ingredients to your table at high standards and a amazing view you have to take in that the owner has to pay rent wages and everything else on top of thatBut honestly beautiful I will definitely be coming back

Tried for 2 years to redeem Red Balloon vouchers at Pilu but were thwarted on 3 previous occasions due to Covid and its annoying disruptive and destructive tendencies. Fourth attempt and we were not really expecting much as we'd been disappointed in returning to other favourite places due to menu and chef changes etc. What a welcome change to actually enjoy a meal from start to finish. We opted for the 7 course tasting menu and were blown away by every course. This food is cooked with 'love' and presented with pride. Giovanni Pilu serves many of the courses himself and explains the origin of the specialty Sicilian dishes, making you want to go to explore Sicily itself. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff are attentive, welcoming and very-well informed on each course. The wines and cocktails are lip-smacking and to top off a wonderful dining experience, the view of Freshwater beach is the 'icing on the cake'.

A beautiful restaurant sitting right next to Freshwater beach. We were sitting near the windows where we could feel the breeze on our faces and it was very relaxing. The food was delicious and the service was great. The waiters were friendly and accommodating.

Amazing food (as always) and exceptional wine. Great location with an awesome view. Service was good although the drinks were slow to come to the table (meaning we had eaten half the course before arrival). A bit pricey but worth it. Remains our favourite Sydney restaurant.

Great atmosphere. Food was pretty good, service was excellent. Not a lot of options for desserts we found. My 5 year old son was with me and the food took forever (didn't matter to us (adults) but would have been nice if kids food was brought earlier).
