Laid back casual ambiance which was very pleasant. Food was good and price is to be expected on the mountaintop. One of the few places open for dining on Mt Buller in the evening. Spacious, good for eating by yourself or in a group.

Popped into @TheBirdcageMtBuller for an early dinner and got the Korean Braised Beef Cheeks (5pm - 8:30pm):Braised beef cheeks served with Roast Pumpkin, Fried lotus, Sarsaparilla, Black Salt, Shiso Leaf and Roti BreadA big chunk of beef cheek is presented which is just falling apart and oh so delicious, particularly with the sauce. The roast pumpkin is excellent and very comforting in this winter weather. Loved the crisp flaky roti to mop up the juices. Great location, right next to ABOM lift entry. Food is good quality, good selection of options. Today we had the souvlaki loaded chips and poke bowl. Poke was slightly on the smaller size but SLC was generous portion. Both tasty. Good customer service and plenty of seating. Wagyu beef burger is recommended. Food a little pricey compared to Melbourne prices, but that seems to be the norm on the mountain. 1 star off only due to price.

Came for brunch. Great BLT and hash brown. The coffees were also very nice. Lovely spot to fuel up in-between skiing.

The next day when we woke up, we had a good and hearty breakfast (part of the package) in our hotel before proceeding to ski - for the record, we arrived too early before the snow started to fall so we didn't really get to enjoy the skiing facility to the fullest. The management was using machine to create artificial snow for the holiday goers to ski but we didn't ski because our kids were still too young, so we just went into the area to play with the aritificial snow.Had a great time nonetheless and before we knew it, everyone was famished so we had lunch at the one & only Mount Buller Fish & Chippery.. the fish & chip was most expensive one I had while in Melbourne but we'd no choice because they were the only place around serving this dish and they are located in the heart of Mount Buller.But this post is not on the fish & chips but on the coffee session after that. We walked around and saw this Birdcage Café - the coffee craving kicked in so we just walked in. Initially wanted to drink only coffee, we ended up buying 2 large cookies as well for the small ones when they said hungry... Cold weather really made them feeling hungry fast.It was very cosy inside considering that it was cold and foggy outside... Love the usage of logs and timber to mix with the dark contemporary interiors of the cafe. FYI, this cafe is located inside Mt Buller Chalet Hotel & Suites.After satisfying the caffeine addiction, the once again energetic kids dragged us for another 2 hours of playing with the snow which drained most of our energies in the end.The end!

Shae is a superstar. She helped my mates kid get a carrot so he can build a snow man. That's when you know you are being looked after by the best. Good was lovely too, thanks guys. Will come back for more

Recently changed to a more limited tapas menu and I think it's the best thing that could have happened to this place. Still a beautiful fine dining ambience but the modified menu makes it feel a bit more relaxed and the food is still delicious!

Apologies for not getting many photographs at the birdcage however it was a lovely place to hang out even though we were there for just a short amount of time.We needed to leave early and the staff were more than accommodating in regards to putting my coffee in a takeaway cup and the same with the chips as well.
