Tara House Bed and Breakfast

We arrived on Friday evening, and the host was drinking in the guest lounge with another couple who were staying at Tara House. It was clear at that point that he had had a reasonable amount to drink. He invited us to join them, and offered us a glass of wine. We sat and chatted with the host and other guests, and enjoyed the conversation, which was interesting and wide-ranging. However, as the evening went on, and more alcohol was consumed, the host became more and more condescending and belligerent. After a couple of hours of chat, my partner and I made comments which were borderline political. The host then told me to Shut the f*** up"

Wonderful place to stay! Very interesting and unique experience staying in a Victorian house. Highly recommended!

Lovely place to stay when visiting Bairnsdale. Beautiful decorated room with a warm heater, Good size private ensuite. Bed was comfortable, warm and had an electric blanket. Shower was hot with the heat quick to come through.

Janice has an amazing interesting B&B with lots of history and creative decoration. We stayed in the ballerina themed room. Janice is a historian and has many interesting stories if you’re interested. The room was also spotlessly clean and had nice amenities, and lots of fresh fruit for breakfast.

Very nice house, very historic. The room was very comfortable with a great en-suite. Owner's Rep on the day very friendly and entertaining. The only thing missing was an open communal room.

Janice is a very welcoming and knowledgeable host. The attention to detail from welcoming chocolate, fluffy towels, a generous breakfast and comfortable and cleanrooms is amazing! This was the best B&B we have ever been to!Thank you again, Janice!Uli, David and Tessa
