Maïté did a fabulous job restoring a painting of my childhood home. The painting now looks so fresh and the frame has been stabilised. It’s lovely to have it hanging on our wall. Maïté is exceptionally talented and passionate about her work. After expressing an interest in what she does, she took time to explain some of the processes and products involved. I had 2 treasured oil paintings by my Grandfather recently restored by Maïté Le Mens of Studio 204. I had been looking for many years for a studio that will restore a portrait/painting of my Grandmother. Finally I found Studio 204 and the lovely talented Maïté Le Mens. The result of the restoration of the 108 year old painting was amazing as it had holes in the canvas, the painting was so cracked and crazed that some of the details were lost. After the restoration the detail was revealed and the portrait resorted to it's former glory. Other restorers I contacted were either extremely expensive or would just not return communications. I researched and found Studio 204 and Maïté who is an asset to Brisbane with her international restoration experience. The work completed has transformed the vibrancy and intent of the Pro Hart piece when he completed the painting decades ago. It's surprising the level of grit, dust and mould that can sit on the surface of artwork. With an expert review by studio staff and the resulting outcome I am pondering what I should deliver from my walls next to bring the authenticity of the art to its optimum condition. Jen at Studio 204, completed works on a lovely Japanese screen I have had for years. The damage to this screen was extensive, and I really thought it was beyond repair and had seen its final year. The fact that this screen is of mostly sentimental value to me and my children, didn't influence the intricate detail she used to restore this screen well beyond my expectations.I am SO impressed by the skill and care Jen put into restoration, and I can't recommend her highly enough...
