Thargomindah Historic House
One of the Historic Sites on a walk around Thargomindah. It doesn’t take long to do a circuit, along the river & back along the Main Street.

Open 24/7 a must do when in Thargomindah. I wasn't aware that the House is open 24/7 and that you can visit it anytime. We were really suprised to see a Gyrocoter Blade from the Mad Max Movies being displayed there. We just love the entire experience!

Thargomindah Historic House
Locally made mud bricks were used to construct the Thargomindah Historic House in the late 1880’s. The original owner of the property was John Lahey who at one time served as Speaker of the Queensland Parliament. The legendary cattle baron, Sir Sidney Kidman, bought the house in 1912. The Bulloo Shire Council purchased the building in 1995 and following restoration work it has opened as an historic house museum and is managed by the local historical society. A variety of displays relate the history of the town and region.
