it’s an interesting place for northern chinese cuisine in Hobart. The black pepper beef and eggplant are recommended. beef is very tendor and cooked nicely. Scallion noodles is good too!

First time at this restaurant, thought we would give it a go for date night especially given the raving reviews. Cocktails were both unique in flavour with the menu offering a wide range of cocktail options. Our cocktails however came out one at a time with about 10min between each so it was disappointing to have to wait. The Dragon Ball was unique and delicious, we both enjoyed this. Next we had the pork wraps… this dish was flavoursome however the wraps had a line down the middle of all of them causing them to split apart with even the smallest amount of filling.Lastly the fish plate. This dish was not enjoyable at all. Unfortunately the restaurant uses what tastes like frozen and pre battered fish along with a frozen vegetable mix which really lacked in flavour and experience, with the sauce being extremely sweet. I would not have this dish again based on the lack of readily available fresh produce.Atmosphere was well themed however feel the music choice could be better as it was playing pop music for a romantic setting.Would recommend for a cocktail however the food was quite disappointingWas very much looking forward to this restaurant

Best restaurant in North Hobart. This lovely restaurant is exquisitely furnished with a few seperate areas with privacy for group celebrations as well as lounge areas for dining. Menu is terrific and cant be beaten in price anywhere in Hobart for the elegant environment to dine in that it offers. One of their unique dishes is Typhoon Shelter Potatoes, very yummy!!Love their food. Love their staff, so friendly and cheerful.

Soy duck and black pepper beef were standout dishes. Shanghainese wanton soup and other side dishes were delightful. Lovely experience with great service and ambiance. Thank you for a great time!!:)

Absolutely amazing! Couldn't not fault this beautiful dinner! The meals are small sizes, but it's a great way to be able to try lots of things on the menu, which there was certainly lots to choose from. The staff are extremely attentive and made sure we had drinks often, the cocktail menu is extremely large and they have a great variety, I recommend trying the Soul Of Raspberry" fresh Raspberries

I really like this new concept. Bar + Chinese restaurant. genius!! I prefer the informal setting of a bar and cozy relaxed atmosphere over a formal experience. It’s just a whole new experience to enjoy Chinese food. Food quality is exceptional and tricolour eggplant is a must try. Many of the dishes can be made vegan as long as you ask. I couldn’t try the meat dish. Will bring a carnivore friend next time. A+

May 2022: We've been to Peony Pavillion several times since it has opened, and it only gets better each visit. Staff are always super friendly, meals are absolutely delicious, and perfect for sharing, if you're into that. Each dish is served as if it is an artwork, with the accompanying crockery thoughtful and stylish. Each dish arrives wish a gasp of how it's is presented.Cocktails are also amazing and fills a gap in the local market where great food and brilliant cocktails are served under one roof.Jan 2022: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Former Dede restaurant, now Peony Pavillion Chinese Restaurant, serving up Chinese cuisine.
