Labertouche Cave
Not a great attraction unless you are an experienced cave person.

Challenging and exhilarating. Good place to begin caving. Beginner to moderate. Highly recommended....

Not for the unfit or unwary. This cave is super cool, exciting and challenging. If you are unfit, or you have health problems including being overweight, you should not enter the caves as you will probably be unable to get out. I have been through twice. The first time I went through with a German couple who were boarding with me at the time, and I had a great time and a fun new experience. It took an hour and a half to get from one end to the other. The cave is not a walk in cave and most of the cave requires you to crawl and climb. There are two entrances when you reach the caves. You will need to turn left when you get to the caves regardless of whether you go in that way or not as you must attach a rope to the rail and throw it into the cave to either climb in or out. In that rope you may want to tie a knot every 1/2 metre so that you can climb it up or down safely. Gloves will help you pull yourself up. Send your fittest friend in first. The arrows and markers inside can get a little confusing, so I recommend bringing a waterproof bag with chalk sticks in it so that you can put your own markings on the walls so you know where you have been. Chalk is good to use as it will rub off and not affect the environment.About half way through you will find a kind of upward zig zag climb that requires you to be able to lift your own bodyweight comfortably, so weaklings beware.Be on the lookout for glow worms along the big cracks and joins in the rocks around the ceiling. You may have to turn the torch off to see them.Last time I was there I found an SES helmet that was stuck under a rock in the river. And when I got out both times I was greeted by a lyrebird who was going crazy with the sound effects.Take a head torch and helmet, spare batteries and backup flashlight per person, water and high energy snack food. You will notify your friends and family that you are going into the caves and what time they can expect your phone call once you get out. Make sure you wear good outdoor boots and anything not waterproof or delicate should be protected in your back pack.Good luck caving.

Labertouche Cave
Northern path of this track becomes very treacherously steep. Probably due to heavy vehicle uses wearing down the ramps.I saw some rubbish around those parts too. I'm afraid it will only get worse over time.Otherwise, the southern part of the track is quite relaxing and easy going for the most part. But make sure you download GPX map because it's easy to get lost due to inconspicuous direction signs which are easy to miss

Should have researched suitability first... if you are planning on bringing your kids here to see a fun little cave think again! With two clildren under 7 we hiked 700 metres down relatively steep terrain only to find the caves were completely inaccesible to anyone that is not an experienced sperlunker.Scenery was beautiful though!

Labertouche Cave
Great walk from the car park. But experienced cavers only. There is not really any entrance to walk in as the entry to the cave is straight down and you need ropes to even consider entering this cave. Loved the walk there but. Enjoy.

Great for adventurous people if you join a tour. It’s a few hours from the entrance of the cave to the exit, you will be climbing over boulders and squeezing through challenging gaps the whole way through. At the entrance you will abseil down some rocks, the guide installs a temporary emergency exit ladder on the way in. It’s quite cool in the cave and there is a good set of challenging areas. There are some arrows marking the directions but not with a guide it would be easy to take a wrong path which has happened to people here before. The exit out the other end is more easily accessible.
