After getting a quote for a service from Lexus I dropped in to see Don to compare.Immediately I was impressed with his knowledge of vehicles and his straight up attitude.I was consulted at every step offered a range of options.When I picked the vehicle up that afternoon I was very happy with both the price and the quality of the workmanship.I drove away feeling like I had a new vehicle.If you want a mechanic that you can trust and a real level of service I would suggest you utilise their business.

Been with Don for over 20 years. The service and honesty is hard to find and Don has it all. We take our two cars regular for rego checks and any issues we have. He and the team are very knowledgeable and honest. We have recommended Don to family and friends and never heard a bad comment. There are a couple of negative reviews and I am sorry that was the experience they had. Maybe it is loyalty, but I good honest mechanic is hard to find. Like a good barber, stick with em. He does know his stuff.

I've gone here for pink slips for three cars over the last two years - a Camry, Tuscon and Tribute . They have always completed the inspections promptly, and only recommended reasonable safety inclusions when needed. Haven't always had the same guy but each time the manner has been courteous and prompt.

I had some work done by Harley after a pink slip inspection revealed some issues. Walked me through everything that needed fixing with demonstrations, which I really appreciated. Very happy with the quality of work and service.

Have taken a number of different cars to Don and Shant over the years and the service and workmanship has always been excellent. Their knowledge of each different vehicle is very impressive and all work is clearly quoted and completed on time and at a very reasonable price. I always drive away with piece of mind that my vehicle has been looked after and serviced properly. Highly recommended.

I’m certain the positive reviews must be mates (one is Don Houghton). This place is awful! I went to have a wheel alignment after a friend backed into my tire. When I was told it would be an hour and asked to wait, I was made to feel uncomfortable. I should have left.When it was finally done, I noticed the new measurement ranges were out of the target ranges listed. As this cost $80, I inquired to why. I was spoken to very abruptly and loudly; told I didn’t get the maths of +/- numbers and degrees. I calmly explained that I am in fact a maths teacher and pointed out the possible target ranges taking +/- into account. He was clearly stuck, hesitated for 20-30 seconds and then threw my money back at me. He told me I was a simple woman and wouldn’t listen. I responded that I was very willing to listen but he was not replying to my valid point. He started shouting at me as he was clearly upset to not get away with ripping me off for doing nothing. So unprofessional regarding the car, customer service and treatment of a woman. Highly recommend against this place!

I took my Toyota Prado diesel to Don Houghton Auto at Artarmon for a pink slip inspection and a noisy fan belt, after a recommendation from my spray painter. Don quickly identified the fan belt was fine and pointed out what was likely causing the noise. He immediately inspected the car and identified a faulty window washer (that I was aware of but hadn't mentioned) and the possibility of worn rear brakes pads. He offered to fix the washer and take a closer look at the brakes if I left the car for a few hours. I couldn't wait but agreed to come back in two days. I liked the fact he didn't just replace the fan belt but pointed out the likely problem. When I brought the car back I asked him to do a scheduled service too. He fixed the washer pump, completed the service and sorted out the noise problem all same day and completed on time. After inspection he said the brakes were OK, so I didn't need to change the pads yet, which obviously saved me $$$. The overall price was a pleasant surprise and the car had a noticeable performance improvement from the service. Its been a long time since I have left an auto service so happy. I can definitely recommend Don and his team. Nice guys too!
