Today is unfortunately the last time I will visit Cargill Guitars. Had a 9:30am appointment and was met with a locked gate. What to expect with dealing with this business over the years:- An unanswered telephone,- Opening hours which do not apply,- Turnaround times which can blow out into multiple weeks without notification,- Questionable workmanship (Not always, but at times, from different staff)Such a shame, will have to find somewhere else..

I’d heard great things about Cargills so I had a friend drop my new guitar in for a set up and when my wife went to pick it up it wasn’t done so they rushed it and sent it home buzzing and actually worse than was beforehand. $150! I called them and complained and they said bring it back in, but you’ve got to be joking. Totally robbed. I’ve now discovered Benspoke in Yarragon, who set it up beautifully.

Was sent there by World of Music on Nepean Highway to have my acoustic guitar repaired in May 2020. I was told it would take about a month to repair and they would contact me. It is now October 2021 and still no guitar. Initially they told me they would look into it, but nothing has happened and all further correspondence has been ignored.Due to lockdowns I can’t just drive all the way to Seaford and demand my guitar backIt’s either lost or given to someone else.I would not recommend this business.Care factor and communication is zero. Unprofessional

I drove all the way from Sale yesterday with a fellow guitarist and friend for a 10.30 appointment to have a setup done on 2 guitars. We waited until 11.45 and still nobody had turned up. Phone calls and texts went unanswered and being on a time limit we had to return home. I hear the work is first class but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired! We won't be back.

Had 2 of my favourite Gibsons down with Jim and the team. The Southern Jumbo for a tweak and the Les Paul for a refret. Both guitars vastly improved and all at a competitive price. Can't recommend them highly enough. I have been going to Merv and then Jim since 1970!

Been going there for about 30 years (that long??! Really??!) for guitar and mandolin setups, fret work, and pick-up/preamp installation jobs. Always excellent work. Also builds lovely guitars. Always recommended.

I brought my beloved 76 fender strat to Jim for a refret and setup. He was very conscientious about the fact that it was a vintage guitar and did nothing that would de value it. He used period correct frets and dressed them beautifully. You can't even tell it has had a refret, except for the fact that it plays amazingly now.Excellent job as always Jim.I'll be back.

Took a brand new $3500 guitar for a setup. Got it back and it was buzzing badly. Was advised by Jim to adjust the truss rod. No amount of adjustment would fix the buzz. Called to discuss and no return call. Took it back to Maton, who said it was adjusted way beyond tolerance. Had to pay to have it fixed. I’m a ‘Never Again’ customer of Cargill Guitars
