Our mother passed recently at Calvary Ryde. The staff were exceptional in their care for Mum and their professional dealing with all of us involved. I couldn’t recommend them more.

My mother and my very good friend passed away,.......two years apart...both had dementia ...Calvary carers are wonderful...but the Manager and the supervisors are cold and there is no after death kindness. No sympathy card, no telephone call ....absolutely nothing. The premises are beautiful the girls are great....but there is no answer to emails, no show of concern to family grieving...absolutely disgraceful...because of their lack of empathy I do not recommend this facility as you will not be treated with respect.

Receptionist needs to change her tone. Simple as that, a bit of politeness over arrogance.

My grandparents were residents here for many years until my grandfather passed and when my nan was too unwell she was moved into the hostel. We were given 48 hours to pack up and move out of their two bedroom unit. When my nan was moved into the hostel I walked into her room to visit and one Indian nurse was standing over her bed and was repeatedly saying “Can I have this skirt when you die Del? Can I have this skirt?” The other blonde nurse standing with her was snickering until they saw my face standing there. My nan was incredibly upset. They also sit the patients in their wheelchairs in front of the communal tv in a stark bare room for hours at a time, everyone is asleep and no one watching. My nans antique bureau and all of its contents went missing the day after she passed. No one knew where any of it went- it was a family treasure and full of her most precious possessions. If you enjoy your loved ones being abused, barely cared for and all of your stuff stolen just send them to this place. In my opinion it should be bulldozed to the ground.Shame on you Cavalry, you do not deserve the statue of a holy saint in your garden, or a church on your premises. You are the opposite of virtue and goodness.

I have worked at Calvary Ryde nursing home for many years and unfortunately over the years the standard of care here is severely lacking. I have seen first hand residents especially with dementia being abused or neglected, buzzers not being attended to (sometimes takes 30-60min for staff to respond even in emergencies). Most residents here complain about the food too, which seems to be rationed in small quantities amongst everyone. I have seen care staff take food from residents and eating it themselves. The work environment here is also extremely hostile, not at all friendly, as the work politics are through the roof. Oh, and don't even get me started on how understaffed this place is. I would not send my worst enemy here. Sadly just another one of the nursing homes that tries to maximise profit even at the expense of adequate quality of care.

Food seems to be of an inferior standard in general in Mary Potter Residential Care at Calvary Ryde. There are not enough staff there, and there seems to be an element of laziness amongst SOME staff members,, not all. Even though it's a relatively new facility, the cleanliness/hygiene could be improved. Communication can be problematic with staff also.

Just based on reviews it’s not a very place to stay. I’m very disappointed in the reviews. It looks a nice place but I may look elsewhere. Not good at all

I have an appointment an email confirmationHome Touring – Calvary RydeDate – Friday 2nd DecemberTime – 3.00pmMeeting with – Craig Robinson. When I got there at 2.50pm. done all testing. The person did not show up and reception make a phone call to him. He told me he had the appointment at 2pm and has been calling since then. We never received a call. I drove all the way from Newcastle and no one else can show me the place. Just a waste of time and lucky this shows how good the management is.
