Rainforest 4 is purchasing land back to return it to the traditional owners after the Queensland government approved the subdivision of land for residential purposes in the 1980s. A few years later, two thirds of the rainforest was given Wet Tropics World Heritage Area and declared a national park. Unfortunately, one third is still excluded from the protected area and owned privately. Rainforest 4 is purchasing this land and expanding the area of protected national park. Rainforest 4 has purchased 12 properties in the past year ensuring the protection of this World Heritage site for future generations to come. Keep up the great work!

This project is wonderfull! protecting totally unique and beautiful ancient pockets of the Daintree rainforest that should have been included into the world heritage area, sadly some people think there is a reasonable level of development for this rainforest, but i disagree, we have lost SOOO much forest already on this planet, at least lets keep the spectacular pieces of what's left of the worlds oldest rainforest in the ground! to everyone involved, fundraisers, tree planters, daintree life, rainforest 4, jabalbina and the TO's, half cut, we are explorers, and of course all of the donors you guys are making a huge difference! such an awesome project!

A wonderful initiative. I wanted to be sure my donation was going to an organisation that had the courage to follow through on their vision, I investigated the credentials of R4. I discovered that they in partnership with the Jabalbina Yalanji Aboriginal Corporation (JYAC) and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS) amongst others. R4 has achieved a great deal towards their vision and the preservation of a rare and fragile environment. Which for my money speaks volumes. As an aside, they are also supported by Bank Australia who I feel is one of Australia's most ethically motivated Banking organisations.

The Daintree contains one of the last stands lowland tropical rainforests in Australia, recently listed (2021) as an endangered ecological community in the EPBCAct. As one of the oldest rainforests on the planet and a stronghold for ‘many ancient flora and fauna including the threatened southern cassowary, which has been living in symbiosis with those forests for 80 Million years. Much of the Daintree lowlands were not included in the World Heritage Area and ARE currently being carved up by rural residential development, fragmenting the forest and increasing threats such as weeds, domestic animals and traffic. Rainforest 4 Foundation, with the support of many concerned donors, is protecting this outstanding global treasure by purchasing blocks and returning them to their Indigenous custodians who will include and manage them as an extension to the Daintree National Park. This needs to happen as we elevate the rights of nature above human-centric views and could be embraced by locals to vision unique eco-tourism potentials it presents as a relatively intact ecosystem. Thanks R4F for your commitment to protecting the Daintree Lowlands!

I've been donating something for various plots over the last 18 months. Every bit helps. It's one of the few charities where you can clearly see exactly what is happening with your money and I feel like I am making an investment in my children's future. Projects like this are becommoning more common. Governments across the world have been continuing to fall behind with ensuring a sustainable future. More and more is being done directly by the people because it seems to be the best and most transparent way to ensure action and that money isnt wasted.

Rainforest 4 Foundation is great! Without their fundraising efforts many parcels of land in the Daintree would have been turned into private residential properties or other private enterprise. Farming, tourism and housing developments just should not be allowed in this part of the world. It’s way too precious.

Very satisfying to see a practical conservation outcome. In this age of climate change the best thing we can do is keep trees in the ground and forests intact. Great work Rainforest4.

The lowland Daintree rainforest was subdivided into 1,100 small residential blocks by a dubious process of converting lease to freehold involving developer George Quaid, Premier Joh Bjelke-Petersen and Minister for everything Russ Hinze back in the early 1980’s.This special part of Australia should have instead been converted to National Park for protection for perpetuity considering its global significance of biodiversity, particularly its evolution of plants.Ever since, various organisations have been undoing this failing of planning policy by incrementally purchasing available properties through consensus and voluntary acquisitions and donating back to National Parks. Additionally, traditional owners have been involved every step of the way.Thank You Rainforest4 and your remarkable team for real on the ground conservation outcomes. The amount of land revegetated and acquired for protection is remarkable. Your work will have an ongoing legacy that future generations will appreciate and admire.

Rainforest 4 are helping to undo the shocking wrongs of the 1980s, when the Bjelke-Peterson Govt. carved up and sold off thousands of hectares of our globally unique rainforest. R4 are helping us to return it to its rightful place as an immensely important environmental asset. And they are doing it with integrity, transparency and accountability.

A hard-working positive dedicated team of rainforest conservationists, doing an amazing practical job, with genuine volunteer & donor support, in helping retain and enhance previously-unprotected at-risk remnants of our Australian limited Wet Tropics ecosystems !! They win my support, endorsement, and donations, every day, every year !! Keep up the great much-needed work.
