Trout Tales Tasmania

I have just spent 2 days with Matt and although I did not land a fish ( my bad ) saw plenty should of bagged 6 or 7. Never fly fished before I can say after the 2 days I am confident that I will catch fish soon. His patience and knowledge is fantastic. My casting went from zero to landing the fly where I wanted so well worth the time and money. Experienced or not Matt will guide you to where the fish are and fine tune your ability.

My wife & I spent two days with guide Peter. We fished a number of different lakes very close to our camp at Miena. As two fly fishing learners Peter taught us the ropes and we caught a range of brown trout - some we released and some we enjoyed for dinner. Two very enjoyable days where we were well taught and looked after.

We have been with Matt Stone from Trout Tales on 5 day trip where we were taken to a wide range of rivers and lakes depending on prevailing weather conditions. We fished from a comfortable boat, off the banks and waded.Matt has improved our fly fishing abilities immensely with on the job pointers which helped us landing a lot of fish. It was a joy to fish mainly dry flies but we also tried Euronymphing. The catering is the best we ever experienced. We are looking forward to booking another trip with Trout Tales next season

Thanks Matt for a great day out. As a fly fishing coach, you were excellent, providing all the kit, knowledge, and patient encouragement needed to allow my daughter and me to both catch a world famous Tasmanian wild trout on a floating imitation May fly (especially as both of us were fly fishing beginners). As a host you made us feel most welcome and the lunch provided was first class and welcoming on a fairly cold day, especially as it was eaten in front of a log fire in a shoreline cottage. All in all it was an experience to remember and if we are lucky enough to get back to Tassie again we will definitely look you up.All the best from Ted and Katie

Matt at Trout Tales was a very accomodating guide. Just to make sure I got the experience I wanted he discussed the options up to the day before while we were watching the weather. We decided to do the lakes and amongst the various other fishing parties out there Matt had me catching the most with his vast local knowledge and fishing prowess. It was a great day surrounded by beautiful Tasmanian scenery. Highly recommend.

Awesome day of guided fly fishing with Matt. Set out with expectations to just learn and improve my fly casting skills and any fish would have been a bonus. By the end of the day landed both a nice Brown and Rainbow trout, missed a couple other opportunities and my casting skills had improved remarkably. The delicious chef prepared lunch and tasty Tassie whisky to finish off the day with a recap of the day’s fishing adventures were an added bonus. Super stoked and would highly recommend Matt’s services. Will be back again for sure!

Amazing experience with a top quality guide - Matt really knows his stuff. Not only caught plenty of fish using the supplied premium fly fishing gear, but the hot lunch supplied was a highlight. Next time I'm in this part of Tassie, I'll definitely be booking in another trip with Trout Tales.

10/10 will definitely book again. Not only was the fishing amazing the food amazing too. Peter worked very hard to put me on fish in rough conditions and was very knowledgeable about local wildlife as well. Not very many places where you can catch trout on dry flies and see a platypus in the same day.
