Absolutely cannot recommend highly enough of Brad and the crew at Torquay Surfing Academy. A really warm, homey vibe instead of an institutionalised surf school. The highlight of my stay. Did a group and private lesson and despite the cost, private is definitely the way to go to accelerate your surf skills. Will come back.

Took a private lesson with Kev today and it was amazing! Waves weren’t the best but he did all he could to correct my fundamentals and encouraged me along the way. Highly recommend a private surf lesson with Kev!

Torquay Surfing Academy
We took our two kids up to Torquay for a couple of days as a Birthday treat for my son Evren. Surfing lessons with Brad was part of the fun and both kids had an absolute blast. Everything from wetsuit fit out to the actual lesson was on point. Brad was clear in his teaching, very knowledgeable about surfingand patient with the kids. We will back there again at some stage and thank you to Brad and the team for an amazing family experience.

I had a wonderful experience here for a board hire. Service was wonderful, friendly gentleman who might be the owner/manager was helpful. I came from California, didn't have a board, and just wanted to find something more than just a foam board to use. Super thankful they had a series of epoxies in different sizes, some that were surprisingly fun and maneuverable on head high days, see picture with Drifter epoxy models, those were amazing.Can't reiterate it enough, good people, nice boards, friendly, even gave me recs on fish n chips and breweries. Will be back!

Great surfing class! Staff and instructors were all very friendly and encouraged everyone to have lots of fun! Beach was (as expected), quite busy, but the surf academy had a sectioned-area for the class which made it a lot easier. A great session to get back into surfing and would highly recommend to others.

Torquay greatest asset, Incredible classes taught by strong empowered local surfers with a passion for the ocean, These classes provide support, knowledge and a chance to learn new skills build skills! Set on the Surf coasts most beautiful beaches. If you are trying to work out which surfing lessons are right for you and your kids! This is it!! I can't recommend them enough.

The instructors were nice and extroverted, but there wasn’t really much teaching going on. No warm-ups, no drilling exercises and hardly any support once in the water. It was okay for us because we had previous surfing experience, but because they didn’t split up the group of 14 (!) participants into different levels, the instructors never spoke to us once. All in all, a disappointing surf experience had it not been for the iconic beach and the nice vibe in Torquay. We might as well have rented the suits and boards and then gone out on our own.

We had a surf group lesson sunday morning and it was amazing. I really recommend it. Brad is friendly and the girl coach is a good teacher and keep smiling dispite of cold water, she's strong!Unfortunately we didn't have time to thank her. We will have good memories

We had an awesome time the other day during our private 2h lesson with Gally's crew. It was our first time ever surfing and they made us feel safe and warm. Even the weather condition wasn't so great, we had a wonderful time together. Perfectly skilled guys to train even not-so-great-english-speaking students ;)If it's your first time you should definitely consider that surfing school. Will be back again :)

We had an absolutely amazing time having a private lesson at Torquay Surf Academy. Curly Kev was a superb teacher especially considering what he had to work with.A few simple tips and unbelievably Kev got us both standing up on an actual surfboard, which was the dream. So a massive thank you from us for your patience and persistence we had such a fun morning that we definitely won’t be forgetting.
