I cannot express my gratitude to Chris Preston and his team for the care and expertise given to my 10 month old Poochon puppy requiring a total hip replacement. Although the recommendation from my vet and my research into option leaned to a THR after fracture and dislocation, the surgeons on my side of the city advised against it, opting for a simpler procedure (due to her size of 5.8kg) which is a certain sentence to arthritis. (Further investigation unearthed that these surgeons just couldn’t do it on small dogs!)Through research and speaking to other small dog owners I had the good fortune of finding “the Master” small animal orthopaedic surgeon. He was calm, professional and so incredibly focused on fixing my pup’s broken body. (He even gestured to me hugging and kissing her on our first consultation and said something like “I’m not so worried about this. My focus is fixing this (her back end) so she gets 15 or 20 years of health”!I can’t say I didn’t experience stress, but I had faith in Chris’ work. The 6 week restricted activity immediately after the surgery was excruciating for us as she seemed not to be in any pain or distress- just confused by her confinement. At the 6 week post op examination Chris gave her a full Bill of health and to my amazement, she immediately returned to her victorious races and wrestles at the park! We’re 3 months post op, and look at her go -she’s the front runner, all the way!

Late last night we had to rush in our beloved 17 yr old Himalayan cat James". The duty vet sadly informed us James had suffered an Aortic thromboembolism. We had to make the difficult decision to let him fly with the angel cats. From the minute we rushed James in

Deciding to get our 8 year old puppy 's elbow operated on was frightening for us. We just wanted to do what was right for her. The team at Pet emergency were great, answering our questions and reassuring us about the operation. The difference it had made in her is amazing and we now have every confidence in getting the other elbow operated on. We know she'll be really well looked after with Chris Preston being the only vet in Australia who can successfully relieve her of the agony she's been living with.

Both my wife Dee and I cannot thank Dr. Chris Preston and his staff enough. Chris you are a magician, so talented, caring, compassionate and understanding and worth your weight in gold. Our Cavoodle Gus, is nearly 10 years of age and gives us so much love and we couldn’t bare to see him so lame,. It started on one hind leg and then he injured his other hind leg. We took him to our local vet who took X-rays but couldn’t perform the surgery for 2 weeks, just as well, we were referred to Chris’s practice by them. Our vet on a Friday emailed Chris all the relevant X-rays and history, and thankfully Chris could book Gus in for a consult on the following Monday which we were great full for. During the consult Chris talked us through the bilateral TPLO surgery he could perform, which means both legs would be done at the same time, beneficial to Gus and us due to the recovery time and only performing surgery once. He spoke to us about all the details from surgery right through to what needs to be done during recovery and the cost we thought was reasonable given what needed to be done, even if it was more we would be happy to pay anyway as we want Gus to have the best life possible. We are now into day 11 and even Chris can’t believe how Gus is going, he said just keep doing what you are doing. We are so fortunate to have met with Chris as he can understand how much Gus means to us and he just loves his job so much that it shines through. Chris we cannot thank you enough for everything and we are so lucky to have someone so talented like you not too far away from where we reside. I hope a lot of people read this review as it would not be hard for them to know where to send their pet, we will also be referring any friends or family members if their pet needs to see a SUPER VETKind regards and many thanks ChrisPaul & Dee

Let me tell you the story of a gorgeous cat named Comet who didn’t make use of the sense the good God gave him.He was born a runt and initially thought to be a female. He was a very beautiful cat who relied on his looks to get him out of the mischief that his lack of common sense got him into. One day, the pet door malfunctioned and little Comet made like his namesake and escaped into the cold black night. His brother came back at the promise of treat but Comet did not. Despite the desperate searching of his owner (myself), he was nowhere to be found. The next morning he was found hit by a car and after desperate phoning to both the regular vet and others, the Pet Emergency & Specialist Centre came to the rescue. He was raced into the hospital and immediately put on painkillers. An x-ray was taken but it was determined not to be possible to save him. The staff were 12/10 and let me bring his cousin, Nova, to be with us when he passed and let me sit with him as long as I needed. They were very understanding of my financial position and provided me with many initial options when we first arrived to determine Comet’s condition. The prices were fairly reasonable for an emergency vet on a Sunday and they even provided a follow-up call to confirm how I would like Comet’s remains to be taken care of.Despite the circumstances and outcome of my first visit, if there is ever another incident like this (touch wood) I would not hesitate to call on their services again.Thank you to the staff who made such a horrible day the best it ever could be. He was a mischievous little menace and I loved him with everything I had. I’m so grateful they were able to make his last moments pain-free and peaceful.

Dr Chris operated on our dogs legs twice. His expertise gave our boy 6 more years of active happy life.We were very happy with every aspect of the care he received even down to the sutures which were of a standard a human might expect for clean tight lines. As a nurse I found the hygiene and after care excellent. Dr Chris doesn't give false expectations and is clear concise and to the point on expectations v reality. We will seek him out again if necessary. He is not a miracle worker but a good honest vet doing everything he can.

Came in with my greyhound because she had sliced one of her pads quite deep and I couldn't get an appointment anywhere outside of emergency vets for at least 5 days. It seemed obvious to me she would require stitches. After 30mins I get a call saying the vet has looked at her, decided she wasn't urgent and I should wait at home for a call. This was completely understandable due to how busy it was and the minor nature of the injury. What was very disappointing is that 7 hours later I get a call saying the vet has looked at her again, decided she didn't need stitches and the wound would heal by itself. She was given codeine for a minor cut that was not causing her much grief so that just resulted in her being spaced out and having diarrhea for 2 days. Her foot was not even bandaged on the way out so she ended up coming out worse than she was before she got there.Obviously the wound didn't heal by itself eventhough I made sure she wasn't using it and when I was eventually able to see my regular vet 5 days later they immediately decided she required stitches and antibiotics. She recovered soon after that.So in conclusion I wasted over $300 to stress my dog out for 7 hours, give her diarrhea and have to go see a real vet anyway. If you don't have the time to take on non-emergency cases then simply say so in the first place!

Couldn't ask for a better result. We went in on Tuesday thinking my 2 year old Border collie would be requiring a $5000 surgery for her back pain and after discussing options Chris did a simple steroid injection. 36 hours later she is running and jumping and completely pain free. Chris is quick to reply to emails, answers questions in depth and even let me record my dogs CT scan. Love this place!!

It is now 12 months after the 2nd operation & there is no need for further comment. Just watch the video of Jarrah & her sister Willow on their Big swim at the beach - the video tells the story. Thank you Dr Chris Preston for making the impossible POSSIBLE!!Thank you, Dr Chris Preston and the staff, at Pet Emergency and Specialist Centre PESC, for giving our precious German Shepherd Jarrah her life back. Chris is 1 of only a few vets in the world who currently offer, and more importantly, are capable of successfully performing, the cutting edge, CUE procedure Jarrah needed - a procedure that rescued her from the agony of end stage arthritis in the medial compartment of her left elbow. Refer the smaller picture from her elbow arthroscopy of the red bone grinding on red bone in both her elbows. Chris is Australia's very own Super-vet, and he operates at the cutting edge of Veterinary science - delivering successful outcomes for our beloved friends, where previously there were none. We would recommend his expertise to anyone in a heartbeat. He and his staff at PESC were also very friendly, welcoming, accommodating, and always open to my many questions. I have discussed Jarrahs case with numerous vets in Victoria and NSW, and all highly recommended Chris and his team. We welcome anyone to contact us if they want more information about Jarrahs case, and our experience at Pet Emergency and Specialist Centre – we did our research thoroughly, and drove 1,600 km so that Chris would be the surgeon caring for our girl.Refer Photos I have posted. The small round red picture is the inside of Jarrah's elbow before the CUE procedure. Note the, red bone grinding on red bone, surfaces in both Jarrah's elbow joints, causing the agony that was her normal life. She was unable to limp as both elbows were the same.Refer Photos I have posted. The Xray is the inside of Jarrahs left elbow after the CUE procedure and you can clearly see the space that the CUE procedure's titanium implants placed between the, red bone grinding on red bone, surfaces in Jarrah's left elbow joint. It is now 3 weeks since the procedure on her left elbow and she is a different girl – it has already delivered her from the agony that her left elbow caused and she is already well on the way to a pain free life and to the 2nd operation on her right elbow. For more on Jarrah and her sister Willow and their equal 1st prize winning World Championship puzzle solving - go to google or You Tube and search for - Jarrah Willow puzzle - to see a video of their winning entries. It is now April 2020 and 3 months after the 2nd CUE operation on Jarrah's right elbow. It has been a tough 3 month's for her but now she is a different girl. She is now way out in front on all our walks - tail & head held high. Unlike before when she was limping painfully behind us, head and tail down. She is starting to frolic like a puppy again and is only half way through the 6 month rehab period. She is an extraordinary testament to the caring and skills of Chris and his team at Pet Emergency & Specialist Centre. Thanks everyone at PESC for giving us back our beautiful Jarrah.

Over 2 years ago, we found that our female Golden Retriever (Lily) had a growth coming out next to a tooth. The local vet did a great job of removing what could be seen and sent it for testing. The result came back as an aggressive cancer so we were referred to Chris. Chris and his team scanned her as soon as we got there and then explained to me that the cancer seemed to be in her left lower jaw bone. She may not have made it to Christmas 2019.We made the difficult decision to remove that entire lower left bone. I was amazed at her recovery. She was back home with us and eating normally within a couple of days. We then followed up with chemotherapy sessions. We knew there was a possibility that she would have no more than 12 months due to the nature of the cancer.Once her hair grew back in that area, we could barely tell that she even had the operation.Well, it's been 2 years, Lily is now 12 years-old and loving life with us every single day. She has had occasional blood tests with no signs of the cancer returning. We are so grateful for the care that Chris and his team took with Lily so that she could continue to be with our family.
