Kind of eerie....the surrounding district has a secret history of Aboriginal massacres, like many places in Australia. The vegetation has been almost completely denuded, leaving a stark, smooth outline of the hill, with one or two banksias left stanting like guardians. It is surprising to reach the top and see the smooth deep cone within, a green bowl. Its a bit dizzying. The cauldera is large enough to create its own lifting air currents, on which eagles often ride. The creator being for the Traditional custodians of the land is Bunjil, the Eagle. Definately a place worth a visit, and a prayer.
