Unbelievable little discovery! What a gem of a store - we tried the Lithuanian rye which has linseed and prunes and was just heavenly, and the fruit and grain toast was superb. The pastrami on rye sandwich we bought for lunch that day was fantastic because it's super flavourful, not sloppy and saucy like so many Rueben's in Melbourne. And only $12!! There are about ten more types of rye we will be back to try.

Go there mostly for their yeast-free Borodinsky rye and probiotic drinks (kefir and ryazhanka).They have great choice of good bread, but no gluten-free options.Tried some kind of a pastry/pie with cheese (ricotta or cottage) and cherry. Mmmmmmm, so delicious!They also have some good Russian and Polish sweets. And kvas made in Ukraine.P.S. Ryazhanka needs to be shaken very well before consuming.

Called a few days ahead and ordered a specific cake for my birthday. Arrived to pick up the agreed cake (on my way to my birthday dinner) and they gave a completely different cake. When questioned, they stated this is all they had. I had no choice but to take it. Very disappointing and the cake they cmgave wasnt nice. Never again! Bloody ridiculous!!

Tried their San Francisco Rye and the 100% rye and both loaves were excellent! The ladies at the counter were lovely too.

There’s no shortage of bakeries in St Kilda / Balaclava area, but this one is quite special.The San Francisco Rye is my absolute fave. And did I mention the pretzels!!

We absolutely destroyed this zebra cake. Dense, moist and tasty as fffudge. The lovely person there recommended it, as my daughter said she really wanted a chocolate cake. They nailed that recommendation harder than I nailed your dad.11/10
