We loved our tour, the 2 guides where fantastic and knowledgeable. Beautiful house and was fantastic to see the contents has been retained including Dame Enid dresses. A very remarkable women to carry on after loosing her famous husband. We even went and paid our respect at their grave after the tour.

There is some of our nation's important history right here in Devonport. I'd recommend to everyone to get along and have a look.

Dame Enid Lyons and former prime minister Joseph Lyons' family home... amazing couple of Tasmanians. A real pleasure to have such access to their family home. We seem not to make them like that any more, neither the people not the place.

I was lucky enough to be on a tour by myself back in November and enjoyed every minute I was in Home Hill. It went for over an hour from memory and the guide was extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer my myriad of questions about the house and its intrepid occupant Dame Enid Lyons. The eye-popping variety of wallpaper and the gifts and souvenirs on show from Very Important People are among the many reasons to visit, but perhaps the most important is the chance to learn about the fascinating but largely forgotten lives of the Lyons - Joseph as Premier and Prime Minister; Enid as first federal female MP. America is full of Presidential Historic sites so it was a great pleasure to visit a rare family residence of one of Australia's unsung Prime Ministers, sit at his desk and hear of of achievements of his widow. The admission is very reasonable considering how engaging the visit is and the lady I spoke to on the phone was very helpful to confirm tour times. Home Hill can easily be combined with the nearby Don Valley Railway for a fun day in Devonport.

A very interesting piece of Australian history and an insight into a family that faithfully served in both state and federal governments while maintaining close contact with their roots as true Aussie battlers. The country loved them for it as did the monarchy. More people should know about their story.
