Not a bad place to stop for a late Saturday lunch. Great views to the lake and the food was reasonably priced and tasty. Service was a little bit off but they seemed to be under staffed so can forgive them for that. Would recommend and come back if in the area again.

The Lake View Hotel
Was recommended to us due to the gluten free options - which they have a lot of GFO on the menu. The location and atmosphere was great (clean and bright).Food was a little underwhelming, especially with the presentation of the kangaroo fillet and pureed spiced carrot with wilted spinach (looked watery and splatterd actoss half the plate). The Pumpkin salad was thrown together quite haphazardly (majority of the Pumpkin in one spot and then a random potato rosti at the bottom). NOTE: photos attached were done in a 'stylistic' to make the dishes look more appealing.Service staff were pleasant and helpful ensuring there were enough serviettes and cutley at the table.

I keep coming back to this place. Just love it here. It has a really nice atmosphere and vibe. You can take a seat overlooking the lake and have your breakfast. So many people jogging, walking their dog or rowing outside and it's just all happening. The space inside is great and nicely decorated and clean. Lots of outside seating too. The food is great and there are lots of options. The portion size and quality are generous. Coffee is fantastic. As soon as you sit, they take the drink order which I loved because your coffee will come to you pretty much as soon as you are ready to order your breakfast. The service is fast and staff are super friendly and accommodating. Sharine was a total angel and so helpful when I forgot my card one day. Really appreciated the help.

A fav place. Always take Ballarat visitors here. Good selection on the menu for breakfast lunch or dinner and kids menu. Staff are very attentive without being overbearing and always positive attitudes. There's the bistro as well as outdoor area to side of hotel. Always clean n well presented. After dinner a sunset walk is delightful.

What a terrible night of service. So many staff just standing around talk and not actually taking any notice of patrons. Entree come out same time as mains, main salmon wasn't cooked how asked when order was taken, come back for the second time and the veggies and chips cold! Clearly just sat on the bench while they re cooked the salmon for ten mins, told the waiter its cold, with out even a apology or anything it was send back a third time, veggies still cold. But hey, ya got the chips hot.. well done COOK. Salmon had a few bones, one cutting the inside of my mouth. Drinks wernt correct when delivered to the table also. How hard is it for a waiter to wait tables these days ? Table, water bottle and menus were all dirty, stickers half ripped off. we had waited for 20 mins from half of the table being cleaned of main plates before we got up and ordered our own coffee at the counter (the coffee was actually nice. Your barista needs a pat on the back)I would have thought for a more upmarket place around the lake would have a standard then what was given on Sunday. Sent a privet message to attemp to rectify with no answer after a few days so have now posted publicly.

I am extremely disappointed. I ordered a trio of dips, but did not or would not expect something like this to be served. The dips are ordinary; however, the flat bread is tastes like 3 day old stale pizza base.I had one of the wait staff come over and I mentioned my concerns over the quality of the meal. He blankly looked at me and walked off. 20 minutes later I am still sitting here and no service.The other meal was just a poorly toasted sandwich with yellow chips. Very unappealing to the appetite.Just don’t waste you time and money here

Very pleasant staff but the food quality was significantly dropped. Not even one meal tasted good and kids meal even worst and didn't expect this quality of food for the price paid. That's really disappointing!

The Lake View Hotel
We were visiting Ballarat and ordered the calamari skewers. Delicious and tender. Salad was a proper, decent side dish, chips were crunchy too. Only dropped one star on the food because I found the soft drink to be expensive but the food is 100 % worthy of a terrific meal. I'd go back.
