My father is a resident here and we couldn’t be happier. The nurses and staff are caring and consistent. I love the way that the staff knows my dad’s name, remembers how he likes his food even how he likes his coffee. There is always activities going on and my dad especially likes the little cafe there where he can ‘shout’ us coffee and cake.

There is most definitely an empathy chip missing in this facility. I have never once felt welcome as a visitor here. From the way you are made to bang on the front door to be let in eventually when the receptiionist decides to aknowledge you. Yesterday I was also met with 'What do you want?' when the receptionist eventually decided to come to the door. Every question that you ask is met with effort and you are made to feel inconvenient for just asking. I phoned the RN and asked to be notified if my friend took a turn as he had no family in Australia. I was told his emergency contact was the same for person 1 and 2 (his solicitor) and no other number could be added to the list. So, the first I knew that my dear friend had passed away was going to his bed, opening the curtain, and seeing his belongings in black bin bags with his hat sitting on top of them. Not only was this traumatic for myself and my 8 year old son who was with me, the lack of dignity for my friend was equally shocking. Surely there should be a better protocol for these situations? Now all I am left with is the shock and sadness knowing I was never afforded the opportunity to speak to my friend one last time. The only comfort I have is that he is free from this souless place.

I have an uncle in here. I wish I didn't. No physio equipment, no rehab facilities. They are constantly spending money on building renovations and a lift that breaks down every other week rather than things that would be more beneficial to the inmates.

I would not ever want to see any family member stay there or even work there, I've seen things that I'm not willing to post here, it's very sad the behavior of staff and management. Don't think the building is nice and in a nice area that it's a good place to be.Hope this review helps

Have family in the high care nursing home.Senior staff like Cathy, Paul & Cheryl always helpful and caring.Facilities in Luke Centre are a bit tired, but the layout of the floor space in public areas is good and the staff are attentive and look after the patients very in a caring manner. Some rooms have spetacular bush views.Have been to other homes and feel this facility is well worth looking at.

Every single experience/interaction my partner and I have had with Uniting had managed to be unforgettably horrible. When we first went to Wesley Gardens to visit someone in respite care last November, we saw this lady in the room on the ground floor who had fallen down as she was lying on the ground. It was not near the main entrance, and there didn’t seem to be any staff stationed there or even checking in on the residents. We were there for about 10-15 minutes, desperately pressing the bell and phoning them, when a staff finally came over, and the lady finally got some help. You would think that in an Aged Care Facility, they would be more attentive to their residents, or at least have a better safety plan in case someone had fallen down. God knows how long the poor lady had been lying on the ground for waiting for someone to help her.The second time we were there again, the staff at the reception was extremely rude to us. You know, the good o eye-rolling, condescending tone and “don’t stay long!”. We did not know about the visiting hours as that was not explained to us previously when we got in at around the same time (4pm or so). I get that it was our fault, but her attitude was unprofessional and uncalled for.We have also spoken with Yvonne, who was very unpleasant and sounded like she was half shouting over the phone.Whilst Uniting paints such a nice picture of activities and facilities for the residents to access during their stay, they do not actually provide adequate support or encouragement for the residents to feel at home there nor to engage in those activities. What good are activities and plans when they do not encourage participation??

Visited elderly relative. Pleasing to see that Covid 19 safety rules are still being enforced. Staff are welcoming to visitors and show care and concern for the residents. Building interior is clean and inviting. Great coffee shop run by family volunteers. Meals ample and tasty. Loads of activities for residents. Recommended as an aged care facility.

Don't really know it well, seems a little sad to me. Just feels to me that something is missing...fun, laughter, smiles. The care is fine, most staff are great but there needs to be more smiles, more laughter and a sense of fun. Me and mine are new to aged care,

It was very poorly managed when I worked there after the initial change in catering management to an outsourcing, profit focus.I am still having severe problems and costs from a disc injury at the age of 21 in 2009 where I was put into a dishwasher role where the sinks were too low for someone my height. I hadn’t had any specific training for that role either, but there was a very quick movement training before being hired.I was pressured to return to work for admin duties almost immediately, which is just as bad or worse for lower back issues and was pressured during every shift to say I am fine and can be taken off worker’s compensation again. I wish I didn’t give into the pressure and still had that to help me with all of the weekly medical expenses to date.In general, I enjoyed working with the residents in most of the wards and the food looked delicious! I would hope there is less wastage today. The management and staff when I started working there were lovely and it’s a shame the changes were made to save about $2 an hour.
