The walk up and around the rim of the volcano isn't too challenging and is definitely a must. Great exercise and superb views from the top.

The scale of this place is quite phenominal. A steady hike to the top, but the views are incredible. Try and zoom in on my photo to get a perspective in size of this place: Closest ridge, centre, white dot.

A fairly steep walk up, but the trail is made with concrete ramp grips that make the climb much easier. Plenty of shaded stops on the way up but def bring water for the doggos to hydrate and cool off. The effort is well worth the views at the top.

501 concrete steps to climb. Steps start about 25% of the way up. You need to be reasonably energetic. But the views are fantastic.

Nice easy to moderate walk, clean, natural. I didn't see anyone when I was there, not sure how busy it gets.

Mount Schank offers a picturesque view of the surrounding areas, when you reach the high points of the volcanoes edges, revealing a vast view of the country side. Looking inwards to the extinct volcano is the usual Australian bush wildlife and fauna that i'd expect you would find at most other parks and reserves. The trail is isolated and quite narrow at stages, with some sections moving through tight squeezes through the rocks; so i wouldn't recommend the walk if you're not prepared for a tight squeeze a few times through the walk. Along with the standard trail around the crater's edge, you have the option of going down to the very bottom of the volcano, however, the trail down there is narrow and at the bottom you won't find much at all except a ground up view of the crater from within. Along with the standard customary tourist information boards, to educate yourself in the volcano, it provides an ample escape for the duration of your walk around the volcano, which is the high point of my experience. Like i said, there isn't much interesting fauna to see apart from the usual, but it has an arresting view when you reach the high points, and it is a nice experience for a short escape.

Lovely walk. Well-made ramp to the rim, then a stunning walk round, maybe 30 mins. The track to the middle isn’t as gnarly as it looks. We may have rearranged the stone circle into an ancient fertility symbol.
