Faros Seafood Marrickville

Disappointing experience. We purchase from here for our small cafe and spend close to 1200 - 1500aud a week. We will no longer shop here. They treat you as a number, not as a customer. We rang up to complain about some items we purchased and we were not assisted. Prices here are much higher than they were in the past yet quality has only gone downhill. Some items are not fresh like they used to be. This is disappointing as we have been going here for many years.

Always has a good variety of seafood however be careful as it you should check the eyes and gills.Avoid buying anything if the eyes are sunken or if the eyes are not clear and bulging - it's a definite tell tale the fish isn't fresh.They bury the heads in ice so you can't tell what's fresh. Also the gills should be bright red, if they look like a bruised colour it isn't fresh. Look for bright red gills always.A lot of the prawns they sell are thawed out Frozen prawns "imported from Asia.Provided you buy what is freshest

Spent the weekend cooking rather than dining out after checking out the local seafood supplier, Faros Brothers Fine Seafood Providore, located in my new neighbourhood. Spending less than $75 for three generous meals we ate sake-steamed vongole, yellow coconut curry mussels and scallops on the shell with lemon, skordalia, butter and Lulu's Sydney Remedy chilli oil, plus some XL tiger prawns in the same treatment that I forgot to photograph. Reasonable labelling of country of origin allowed me to make decisions about provenance, though I would have liked to know where the Sydney rock oysters were from without having to ask. While undeniably popular with Marrickville locals, the Faros Bros. queue is fast-moving and there are COVIDSafe procedures in place.

Beautiful fresh seafood. Great quality and always worth the drive.I would like to provide feedback on the seafood Marinara.It is never seafood pieces, merely off cuts thrown together. It’s also unusual that cooked prawns are added, when the rest of the marinara mix is raw.Would buy again if changes were made to include quality seafood in the marinara and raw prawns.

My goto spot for fresh seafood and is a lot quicker and easier to get to than Sydney Seafood Market.Unfortunately, it does not have an on-site Fish n Chips style takeaway.

$36 a kilo for salmon steaks when not long ago they were $24-$26 a kilo . A price hike of $10 :(.

Faros, highly recommended by my fd, offers high quality fresh seafood at really good price. Love the oyster, cooked prawn and the lobster.Limited parking available directly next to the shop.

Best seafood shop. The food is fresh and quality, various to shop. The staff are friendly. Shop during the lockdown, very well organized and have the car parks. The price is special and cheaper than the fish market, very reasonable and I can buy more food from them. Highly recommended and definitely will go there again.

This is the best seafood shop that I know of, with a variety of seafood that rivals ones within the Fish Markets. Here's a list of what I normally get here:- salmon sashimi ($40/kg)- salmon portions ($22/kg)- sea urchin roe- variety of octopus, squid & calamari- oystersNeedless to say, the seafood here is fresh and sometimes you see a line outside the shop which for me is all the validation I need.TIP: There is a ticketing system, so grab one at the entrance and wait for your turn.

Very good value for money.Seasonal fresh and salt water fish - whole or filleted, sashimi grade salmon & tuna, live mud crabs, offcuts, shellfish, squid, octopus and a frozen section. You can ask for whole fish to be cleaned and cut for you (no extra cost but keep in mind you will be charged for the weight of the fish before it goes to the back for processing).First timers - take a ticket at the door and wait for your number to be called. Don't touch the produce.
