Our visit included a guided tour of the house and out-buildings...a great snapshot of early SA history from the perspective of early settler and politician Sir John Morphett and his family...The Devonshire tea was a lovely way to complete our afternoon.

Most enjoyable tour & Devonshire Tea. Suggest brighter lighting & longer time to look at all the interesting displays. The tour was too brief & too rushed, otherwise informative. The Cummins House website does not do it justice. The welcome by the organising Volunteer was lovely & the history & ambience of the house & grounds far exceeded my expectations compared to the information on the website. I am South Australian born and lived less than 5 kms from Cummins House for 10 years yet never knew of it's existance. It would be good for this South Australian historical gem to be more widely publicized and brought to the notice of more people for their enjoyment & historical enrichment. Helen. Lovely garden and volunteers (expect for one) I always enjoyed visiting on Fridays to look at and buy some plants and take the baby around the gardens, however today, a man approached me and stated we weren't aloud to walk around the garden, and they were only open for the plant sales, even though I have been many many times and the volunteers have always welcomed me to have a walk around the gardens. The way he talked to me was very condescending and he was angry I took the stroller on the grass (which I had only done as a volunteer was raking the pebble pathway). Luckily on the way out a very lovely lady handed my baby a flower which helped make me not feel as bad. I'm sad I won't be able to come back as what used to be a 5 out 5 experience for me and my baby is now tainted. :(

Wonderfully maintained and charming historical house....The friendly volunteers do an excellent job with the tours and preserving the exceptional gardens. Well worth a visit and learn about Adelaide's early settler history. Price of entry is good value, and you can also purchase afternoon tea with serve with scones and jam. Devine!

I first saw the house in 1957 when l was 7 years old, and still being used as a farm. My mates, and I were scared to go onto the property as we were told that the old lady Morphett had a shot gun. Now after all these years I actually managed to get inside the house. Without a doubt worthy of a visit to see, and hear of its history.
