Sticky is a hive of glorious DIY publication action. I love that I have the chance to browse through such a broad range of writings in one comfy space.I would especially love if there could be a section for photozines specifically but enjoy searching for them also.Thank you Sticky!!

Always amazing, Sticky is a bastion of free expression, local creativity and the art of self-published work. Of all the places that survived the extended Covid lockdowns, I'm so glad Sticky Institute is one that survived :')

Stay away from this place unless you don't mind being judged for your beliefs, values and freedom of speech. They care ONLY for their own beliefs and freedom of speech and no one else's. Will definitely never return and will spread the word of their hateful request.

Ignore the one-star review from disgruntled homophobes, the staff (which to my understanding are mostly volunteers) are sweet and helpful, if sometimes a little shy. There’s an incredible range of zines — everything from tiny three-page comics that cost a buck to more glossy, polished works. If you’re visiting and want a slice of ‘alternative Melbourne’ this is a must see.

You will never find a more homely store! You can make your own badges/buttons and peruse all manner of creative work by local zine creators. I have taken friends from out of town here on more than one occasion as a way of making memories and the fact it is hidden away underground makes it all the more fun!The last time I was there though it was cash only, though. So keep that in mind if you want to swing by!

Sticky is an amazing resource for creativity and community. And plus, SO MANY ZINES! Some of my favorite reads came from Sticky. And dance parties! And workshops! Sticky taught me how to use a photo copier (there's more to it than you think) and how to make pins. Sticky is one of my favorite places on this Earth.

Huge zine place. LGBTQ friendly but not exclusive. They also produce zines and curate a major Australian copy art show.

Amazing source of dirt cheap independent publications and a sure way to discover rare, raw and unusual reading material. Also has all the tools for zine-making to use in store: photocopier, guillotines, scissors, glue, etc. (Plus a badge-making machine!)

I have never ever had a bad experience at Sticky. The wonderful volunteers are welcoming and so willing to help you find zines (even when you only have vauge descriptions like 'i need a zine with poetry in it for an english class to look at'). If you ever find yourself in Melbourne or with 20 minutes to spare while catching the train %100 recommend you go give Sticky a look!!

There is no other place like Sticky. Not only the best place to buy zines in Melbourne, and perhaps the world, but also a crucial supporter of Australian art and culture. As a tiny, underground non-profit org run by volunteers, Sticky has every right to stand up for what it believes in and express its opinions, and every right to exclude the excluders. Sticky demands nothing from the public and has no obligation to tolerate homophobia.
