Ok piece of history but the surrounding slag heaps are worth a climb. Recommend the train ride but check times in advance. Museum is well worth a look especially if you have any Cornish heritage.

A great snapshot of the Mining history and the township that resulted. Some parts of the area are falling away due to weather, vandalism or just age which I hope they can get some help to fix up.A great spot to learn and feel some history and grab some great photos. The climb up the ridge is worth it for some higher views overlooking the immediate and surrounding towns.

One of my Favourite spots at the mines in Moonta. I have been visiting Moonta since I was about 4 and spent many family vacationsvthere as kids. I love exploring the old engine houses and climbing the Skimp dumps.

Beautiful, historic, windy; my words cannot describe the absolute joy this historical site can give. Go up the mountain (very windy at the tip) and enjoy the sights!Absolutely amazing for climbing if you like that :)

Lovely walk around the old buildings, a bit of a climb to the top of the hill with great view of the town and surrounds.

An out of the way ruin that the kids really enjoyed. Turned out to be a highlight of our holiday down the peninsula. Great bit of history to immerse yourself in. No guided tour or anything, just a few wrecked old buildings that actually provided some fantastic photo opportunities. If you're going past it, definitely stop in and check it out. It ignited my kids' love of ruins and was a good chance to teach them about some history of the area. The fencing surrounding it doesn't really keep anyone out, so just walk in and be careful around the run down old structures as there is some rusted metal and rocks around that could prove a bit hazardous to unsupervised kids.
