It might be my favorite museum so far... Been there a couple of times. It's quite an experience everytime and the collection is amazing and extremely well curated. The architecture itself is a piece of art. The food is amazing... It's an experience.

This was the coolest art museum I've ever been to, the building and grounds themselves were a week of art and it was so fun to explore. We stayed for some food and drinks before getting the ferry back and it was really nice.

The architecture and design of the venue was very impressive, as were the many views on offer. The art on display was mixed, worth a visit but didn’t quite meet the considerable hype. Ferry ride both ways was a great way to travel there.

Really extraordinary exhibition that makes you scratch your head on different new world topics and problems. You could easily spend 3 days on different levels reading through the informative texts and audio samples from the various hip and trendy creators of their art in their MONA app 'the O'.This is indeed a must see, just like lonely planet suggests. Weirdest museum I have ever visited. But, I love it. Free admission for Tasmanians. If you appreciate art, you can easily spend one full day here. If you don't appreciate contemporary art, don't waste your time here.

Two of us visited MONA on a Saturday morning whilst travelling around Hobart. We had heard a lot about the museum so we were keen to check it out. The museum offers a range of abstract art, mostly open to the viewer’s interpretation. A modern twist on this museum is the absence of labels with descriptions. Instead, we were advised to download an app to electronically learn about each display. Many of the rooms and exhibits were very dark and had very little light, so be aware of this if visiting with children, elderly or disabled people, as I think it could pose a risk and increase their chance of injury. Nevertheless, MONA offers a unique range of exhibits that utilise water, colours, lasers, spider webs, mirrors, sculptures, statues, music, screens, sounds and so forth. I can only conclude that everyone who has contributed to this museum possesses extremely creative minds. Beyond the artwork and exhibits, MONA also offers bars that sell alcohol, a DJ with live music, a library, and a recording studio. Although MONA may not be for everyone, it was definitely an exciting and unique place to visit. Thank you for the enjoyable experience!

An interesting and captivating museum. I did not know much about it when we purchased tickets, but it has a more unique story than most museums. Enjoyed the arachnid section and a lot of the art. We did not have head phones with us, so we read most of the information on the app, but wish we had brought our headphones so we could participate in the audio aspect as that seemed more enjoyable so you could look at the art and discover while listening. We ate lunch on site and food was good. We wished we had taken the ferry, but warning if you do, the line is long! There is parking, but it fills up fast. Advance booking of a ticket is recommended.

fascinating museum full of intriguing and thought provoking exhibits. slightly maze-like layout but that's part of the fun. the museum itself is gorgeous, with exposed stone and architectural design

One of the most tastefully curated museums in Australia. Architecturally outstanding, the museum built into the hill is a must see for when you are in Hobart. Fast ferries operate from Hobart CBD so getting there is no issue. Overall it is a more mature museum but here and there are things for kids to do.

Great place to visit. Wide selection of interesting art.Loved the walls!Huge big 2 story exposed rock walls and some interesting tunnels through other parts of the museum.Stopped for a coffee on the way out. Looks like it would be a nice place for a bite to eat and a drink on a nice day
