Handrail Pool
Handrail pool was a lot of fun getting into. It is not difficult with only a very short section of rail. Once you're in, it is a very spectacular view from the pool. You are surrounded by 360 degrees of high rock walls and a waterfall on either end.

Weano Gorge has a number of walk categories from easy, Class 2 to experienced hiker walks, Class 5. The Handrail Pool attracts a Class 5 rating. This is mainly due to the fact that you usually need to wade through pools and climb over slippery rocks. This was not the case when we walked the trail in June, 2019. Water lay in pools but you could navigate around them. The walk takes you some narrow towers of rock and the view at the end is spectacular. Do it!

Loved it! We lived all the gorges but climbing down with the handrail to the big deep pool was particularly cool!

Brilliant walk in through gorge, 5 and 7 year old managed the walk with help however we didn't attempt to get down into handrail pool

WARNING!! Altough this is a great place to visit, please take care while getting down the handrail, many series injuries have resulted from people falling from the rail.

Incredible and must see place.Pretty easy access. Go in the morning and be there by 9.30am. The handrail would get really really HOT during the day which would not let you get down to the pool.The walk down from the parking area is not to difficult- take your time and have water with you. Return trip is less than 1 hour. Wear good shoes you don’t mind getting wet.The trip back up to the parking is quiet steep but not hard.

Beautiful but just be careful going down the handrail ladder. It is very slippery when you get to the bottom.
