Port Stephens Motel

OKWe stayed here for a couple of nights in January 2020. It is reasonable, for the price point, in Nelson Bay.The place is located in a relatively quiet spot, about ten minutes’ walk from the shops and restaurants, and about five minutes’ walk from the waterfront area along Victoria Parade. It has been operating here for well over 30 years.The furniture and fittings are, consistent with the age of the place, a bit of a mixed bag. The laminate was lifted and broken on some of the built in fittings, there were a few tiles missing in the bathroom, the bathroom fittings showed their age, there were some water stains on the bathroom wall. On the other hand, the bed was comfortable, the table and chairs were newer and in good condition, the air conditioner was relatively new and did an excellent job in the humidity. The linen and towels were clean. Curtains were also relatively new, and the block-outs did a good job.The room has a small balcony, with a clothes airer provided, which is handy for wet swimmers, etc.There are some three rooms at ground floor level, with the balance upstairs on the first floor. This provides parking underneath. Parking is under cover and easy to use.The pool was not particularly large, but well maintained.

I stayed at Port Stephens Motel for 8 nights. The room was spacious and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower had excellent water pressure. The motel is in a very convenient location with a quick 5 minute walk to the Marina and restaurants. At the top of the park across the road is seating where you can see magnificent sunsets. I will definitely stay here again.

We went there during Easter holidays! Room was cosy and comfortable! Swimming pool is a great touch on. The staff was friendly. Local cafes and beach are five minutes walk away. Had roof parking facility! Had a great stay overall! Will definitely recommend this place!

Easy access..neat and tidy...didn't even need to see anyone...pinpad entry to rooms....only complaint was ground floor room gets lots of noise from the street during the weekend evenings.

Good clean rooms. Some guests had no consideration for others. Slamming car doors all night. Otherwise great place.

Nice, clean, good location. Easy check-in with a code sms to room. Only complaint no water pressure in shower in 1 room, lucky we had 2 and could use other shower.

Port Stephens Motel is a dated facility that seems to have had some minor improvement upgrades. We were in room 2 which was dull and poorly lit, don't be fooled by the photos, this room is tiny, my wife and I almost had to breathe in to pass each other in the room. There are no comfy chairs or a couch for relaxing in and there is very little room on either side of the queen bed.The shower is over the bath so if you have any mobility issues this place (or at least this room) is not for you.The room is however, neat and tidy, the cleaning staff did a good job servicing the room each day. Management should replace the shower curtain which has become grubby and stained at it's lower perimeter.Many of the power outlets and switches had splits or cracks in them and should be replaced.Management need to lift their game, the office was only staffed for a short time each day, other than that you had to ring or text a number except that response times for texts were hours after the text was sent, when I complained about this, response times became much faster.If you were alone and staying one night then the motel might be okay, in our opinion the facility is not at all suitable or comfortable enough for a multi night stay.Not recommended.

Great budget motel, small but comfortable as long as you plan to be out most of the day. Well stocked with the basics - towels, tv, microwave, toaster etc. 5 mins from pretty much everything in the area. Undercover parking as well
