Koala Tree Motel

We were told that we were getting two rooms, we were only given a small family room. With just one queen-sized bed and one bunk-bed.I had to sleep on the floor, because there was no space for me. The room was so small that my own room back at my house is bigger too.The guy who I called (James) lied to us. We had to pay $230 for being two hours late. That is just absolutely ridiculous. We payed $700 in total for the whole thing. What a total rip-off.There was no barbecue area, the pool was freezing even though it clearly had heaters inside. I personally do not recommend coming here. They are liars, you can go anywhere else for better service.The absolute most shocking part is the fact that you don’t even get a refund, if you pay hundreds of money and you arrive after 8:00PM, they’ll make you pay an extra $100-300.In all my life, never have I experienced a motel this bad. Trust me, you’re gonna get ripped off hundreds of dollars from this. It’s not worth it at all, Don’t come here!!!

Decent motel, was clean and tidy when I arrived. Simple to check in and check outFew little things that would of been nice to have, a plate/bowl and a bit of cutlery, maybe also a small soap for the bathroom.But overall my stay was satisfactory

My wife and I, plus our 6 month old Spoodle stayed 2 nights in unit 7. The room was clean and tidy, with a balcony. This made it so much better for our pup.The outside is a little tired and needs some TLC.Although there were no plates or cutlery, the manager kindly lent us some.Would we stay here again, yes we would if we were travelling with our dog.

Poor is an understatement. Absolutely disgusting and terrible attitude. Completely understand the check in rules with the time. However we booked this room after 8pm as we had a change and arrived a day early in port. So we chose here to stay for the night. We booked and paid the deposit which is the full amount of the nights rate. With confirmation that nothing is due at hotel. So when we arrive and call the office to check in. We met with you needed to pay $25 late check in fee. Absolutely fine more than happy to pay this as we understand the time is late and it’s 45 minutes after the closing time. Then when it comes to paying we are asked for $204. A simple conversation is all that is needed to understand why we have confirmation -$25. Of cause, quite rude and disgusting behaviour when I went to retrieve my phone to show my bank’s statement the guy shut the door and locked us out. I would have been stranded in my car with my 3 children and partner if I didn’t find the lovely Mercure hotel who were more than happy to assist us and take our booking.

DO NOT STSY IN THIS PLACE!There is no option for 0 star as this is what I would rate them!Customer service NON existent!Poor quality rooms and very expensive for what you get.We got hand towels instead of proper towels!The room was dirty and got one little shampoo/conditioner for two people.Watch out if you are running late to check in as you will get charged for the night and no one will attend to you.. no one will open the door nor attend your call!They have been reported to the police and told that yes, they treat people with no regard!If there was somewhere to report them, I would!!KEEP AWAY!

WARNING. Drove 8.5hr with 3 children and dog, we arrived (8.55 pm) to a closed motel!!!James had been informed of us arriving after 8 p.m.,and he requested a call on our way there. 10+ call and no answer!! 2 emails, nothing. This isn't a busy place at all. We were stranded, I cried, I couldn't believe someone who is supposed to be professional and only had us and another couple arrive that day, (who were lovely and tried to help us by calling the after hr number with no answer) would not either call us to check if we were arriving after 8pm or just set up the electronic key safe drop box like all other motels do!!!! But most of all, ANSWER the after hrs number!!His responses to my request for a refund have been met with utter ignorance and even a calice tone.We called 2 other local motels to see if we could get a room/s, but no luck.We had no choice but to carry on driving through the night to our destination.He has a reputation for this shameful careless behaviour, unprofessional, to say the least.DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND READ REVIEWS

UNSAFE, UNCLEAN, UNETHICAL and DODGYThey should be blacklisted.Please READ the extremely BAD reviews before you book (don't be fooled by the ones that were planted). This was the mistake we made!1. Upon retuning to our motel after dinner, there was a group of drunk men with bottles loitering outside reception/rooms who looked suspicious and were not quests.2. We also saw the manager actually doing all the housekeeping (rather than dedicated staff). Rooms smelt like cigarettes and looked like they were hastily prepared and hadn't been cleaned properly.3. They helped themselves to our credit card for a $200 deposit without clear notification - yet to be refunded.We booked for 2 twin bunk beds (for our kids) and a double bed but they were a bed short - management refused to assist4. It was such an unsafe environment for our family that we decided not to not stay at all (forfeiting the money spent) to instead drive 3 hours in the middle of the night to a family member's house.Today, they hung up on our call when we made the above complaints. They simply don't care about reputation.Total waste of time and money.Hopefully our warning with benefit others

This motel is disgraceful! Booked for 1 night as a stop over night with 4 kids coming home from QLD. We checked out as fast as we checked in.Room 111. There were wires hanging out of the roof.2. There was no door on the bathroom so if anyone wanted to use the toilet or shower no matter where you were in the room you could see.3. The portable cot provided was putrid it was dirty, old and stuck really bad no way in hell I was letting my 8 month old sleep in it.4. The unit the TV was on was not stable I was worried it was going to fall on us.W ended up checking out and driving home getting us all home around midnight.DO NOT RECCOMEND

Overall this place is great if you need somewhere overnight to stay with your dog. The manager was friendly on arrival and for a motel it has everything you need. There was however a lot of mould in the shower and the floors were filthy, the bottom of our feet were black after being in the room for an hour. Apart from that the towels and linen were all clean and the bed was comfortable.

James is the Koala Tree Top motel Port Macquarie ops manager, rudest person you will ever encounter.He literally mocked our situation before hanging up on us multiple times with his narrow mindset, which is basically, you arrive late, your problem ‘chaaaching $$’Yes, We did not call through to advise we’d be late and we wore the cost of 2 rooms, but it was their attitude which was our biggest lesson, from now on we’ll ditch the little guys altogether and stick with larger chains who have more flexibility and are generally kind to people.The Koala Tree Top Motel emergency line is non-existent. It took longer for us to come from Brisbane for our overnight pit stop there, we should have just booked the Ibis (which is where we ended up, in a family room, for not much more than a potential flea bag motel with no flexibility), calling their emergency line wasn’t fruitful and in the morning they were really dismissive. James is in the wrong industry, he has an obvious disdain for people in an industry which relies on people…. ???? There’s zero regard for everyday issues, such as a late arrival/check in. They will never call people to say ‘hey, we are shutting the office, can we offer you late check in arrangements’ they hope you turn up late so they can blame you and keep your money. We have travelled a bit in Oz and overseas and we’ve never come across this. They don’t deserve to be listed on any web booking platform and THEY DONT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS, spend your hard earned $$ somewhere else. The backpackers up the road is a better establishment.
