Vinnies Thornbury
It's a world chockers full of beautifully organised pre-loved and brand new goodies. The staff are happy, friendly and helpful. Not, 'in your face helpful' either. The good kind of helpful. It's always clean AND has an incredible turnover of stock weekly. I worked in a thrift store" for 5 years in my past and I'm truly impressed with everything this Vinnies offers and it's delightfully organised internal presentation and it's relevant and fun window displays. You can tell that the staff AND the community relish in what this Vinnies store has to offer.P.S. They often have job opportunities posted on their windows too!"

I went into the store yesterday and was appalled at the prices. There was a lemon zester/grater for sale for $10.A used, secondhand, kitchen item for TEN DOLLARS.If you want a good deal, or you're in a tight spot financially, Vinnies clearly aren't the ones to help you out. You're better off buying the same product at Woolworths brand new, which is retailing for $6.50 at the moment.Absolute insanity and greed.

Opening day today! There were heaps of customers. Really friendly staff. Huge range of clothes, bags, shoes, glassware, books, jewellery, and even mattresses. Large store. I’m an op-shop-aholic, and I loved it.

I came here after lockdown and was very shocked by the pricing: $10 for kmart pants!; all mens shirts were $10-$15... this is an op shop, who is pricing these items? What happened to the days of $2 clothing in op shops? It's clear Vinnie's is no longer a charity

I went to Vinnies Thornbury twice this week with donations. In both cases the donations were breakable items in very good condition and I did not want to drop them into the empty metal cage at the door which is about five feet high and quite hard to get items into without dropping them down into the cage. I couldn't see where to open the cage door. Both times, there were no staff at the counter. So, I went looking for a staff member to assist or take the donations. On the first visit I couldn't find any staff, so I headed for the back room and was immediately accosted by an aggressive woman demanding to know why I was heading for the back room, which it turns out is there office. She showed me a side room where I could leave the goods and did not even thank me. On the second visit the same thing happened. Cage was secured shut and empty. No staff on register and none evident nearby. This time I headed to the side room to donate the goods. A helpful volunteer there was assisting me to put them in a box by the open entry to the side room. Neither she nor I were standing in the side room. An older volunteer came out of the office door while we were doing this and started shouting angrily at me that I was not to be in the side room. I remarked to her that I was not in the sideroom and that the lovely volunteer beside me was helping me put some breakable but good condition donations in a box. The other volunteer was urging me not to say anymore because the angry volunteer was often like this and it was best not to say anything more!Vinnies needs to train their customer facing volunteers on basic customer service. As I was a customer coming into the store, if they did not know why I was doing what I was doing, their first obvious response should have been to walk up to me in a friendly manner and say Can I help you with anything?" A simple and polite question that would have immediately solved the problem both times. As a result of my two experiences I will no longer take my donations to Vinnies in Thornbury

I walked in in a good mood, left it feeling not so good. The shop itself has a lot of stock, is on the pricey side but you can find some good deals too, but the interaction with the cashier was pretty awful.I dropped something by accident and a snappy remark was made, the whole process was cold and I was ready to leave as soon as I could. I didn't understand a phrase they used when it came time to pay and the way they spoke to me I had never been made to feel so stupid in my life. It felt like they were telling me off for something we both could have had a laugh about if they had been a little kinder.I'm a native English speaker and I misunderstood them, I can only imagine how much harder that interaction would have been if I wasn't. Brace yourself if you choose to shop here.
