Butterfly Gorge Nature Park
Beautiful water hole after a short but lovely nature walk. Beware the big crocodile who is currently inhabiting the waters. Our group climbed up and spotted his rather large head (didn't appear to be a freshie, honestly). Unfortunately the once pristine water has been pretty wrecked by buffalo. The water is murky as a result. A real depressing look at the impacts of feral animals in the Northern Territory.

Absolutely stunning and worth the drive in. Only a short walk and wade.

Another beautiful water hole BUT, beware - the climb there is a rocky, sometimes hard to follow track AND the descent into the gorge is very steep and rocky.

We did the long walk in but in the end we did not need to as the water levels were low enough to get from the shorter walk. We saw what we thought was a log...then looked back and it was gone...arrrrh

Great place to visit, only a short walk from the car park, suitable car required to drive the 20 or so minutes from the hot springs.

Butterfly Gorge Nature Park
Just lovely. Easy walk to get to and if you swim to the opening of a split rock, very short distance. Climb over a rock and you will be rewarded with another pool and a waterfall.

Butterfly Gorge Nature Park
Our walk from the visitor centre ended up being 14.8km. Some was pretty hard going. But it was well worth the walk. The tracks are mostly good condition however I would suggest walking boots with ankle support over sneakers. When we were there we had the place to our selves. It was stunning. My wife and I enjoyed a picnic lunch there watching turtles and fish. Was beautiful.

Butterfly Gorge Nature Park
Beautiful and peaceful. Great swimming hole and short walks. Loved to have spent the night there but sadly no camping. Maybe the time of the year but did not see any butterflies.

Lying at the end of a 4 WD track and a little bit further away from Darwin than Litchfield. This place is beautiful, with just a hint of exclusivity. Recommend a visit even if you only have a low clearance all wheel drive.
