Callicoma Walk

Nice and easy trail for a good morning walk. We caught an amazing day for the walk and had a lot of fun. The trail runs along a small stream with a waterfall. There is an option to take a shorter path on your way back avoiding the difficult paths making it easier with kids.

Beautiful walk. Picked a hot day for this one, so extended time in the shade along the creek was appreciated.Plenty of birds and lizards out today. Everything was green from the recent rain, so was gorgeous to walk through. Planning to come back again during Spring to get some better photos with the plants floweringThe track has been well prepped. Pillars have been set at a couple of creek crossings to avoid getting wet feet. Most of the steeper sections have steps cut into the rocks. There are signs/markers/blazes along the trail - keep an eye out for them and you should be ok for directions.Can start at the service station, as per the website instructions, but starting at the intersection of Macquarie and Francis Greenway and going anti-clockwise will put you at the service station about 4kms in - good time for a drink/ice cream with a shorter finish. Worked out nicely for us with the short one along for the walk today.Totally doable by anyone with reasonable fitness or patience to take it easy - Mr 10 was just fine with the track. There are some steeper pinches here and there though.

An excellent walk for all ages. Start from the Guide hall. Approx 5km / 2.5-3hrs round trip.

Definitely check the map online on the Hornsby Council website, it will help guide you from the start point and keep you on track. The sign posts are sometimes too far apart making you second guess your direction otherwise. A really nice walk through the local area and away from cars. Saw a wild Echidna!
