It's been an up and down experience. I came in with no knowledge of animation of the industry at all and now have a very good idea and some specific points of interest. In this regard I can't fault SAE. The staff are incredibly welcoming all round and from my experience I would like to shout out Syeda and Reza. The more SAE trust Reza and let him take the animation course in the way he wants the better it will become. There are some issues with specialisation and the way that is advertised versus how it is approached (what was delivered was a very generalist course - not a bad thing just not what was advertised or what people were expecting). Also some staffing issues that i believe were heading in the right direction when I finished there. Short of SAE coling Reza and letting him teach every animation class they just need to trust his vision. I also personally felt SAE over sell their industry connections in regard to animation internships. Develop your portfolio, CV and cover letter and rely on personal connections you have early and as much as possible. It's a great place to develop your understanding and interest in the industry but be ready to specialise on your own or switch educators to somewhere that specialises in your area of interest once you discover it.

Incredible animation crew. Very encouraging, and heavily experienced, could not ask for better people to learn under.Animation course is well developed, had plenty of opportunity to explore all fields of animation.TAKE NOTE : Do not enroll expecting to learn everything just from the course criteria. SAE provides you with an abundance of resources that you only have time to study purely in your own time, of your own innitiative. Not taking advantage of those resources is simply a waste of your money. The only criticism I would have of my experience, is that course admin could make hiccups here and there. Would be put in the wrong classes on occasion and timetables would come in quite late notice. To be fair, I had started as COVID hit, so there was a good amount of course restructuring occuring at the time.Overall, I learnt so much, and thats what I paid for. I first enrolled knowing very little of the 3D world. Just 2 years pass, now I'm getting commerical work, working under and alongside professionals of the creative industry. If you want to kick off your career, this is a good place to start.

This place is the worst institute I have ever delt with. more than half of my teachers wouldnt prepare lessons properly, most classes spent realising how significant a frame number was for a good half the lesson. Learning things here is slow and NOT a guarantee. I was upset that one whole particular class for 3D animation where the teacher did not provide us with adequate information, skills or resources to how to do projects (of which he wanted at industry standard). if you asked for help, he would tell you about how you're in uni now, so you needed to do all the learning yourself. he failed to then supply information, help or guidance once asked for help from struggling students. He then sent out an email to all students in that class that our studies are in jeopardy". Spending thousands of dollars a trimester you would think you would get more for your money. My class started out with a good hundred new students

I want to share my experience. Trust me if you want to study any media fileds, please do not study at SAE. Poor teaching methods and poor students service. Really waste your time and money. You will regret it.Again, Please do not waste your money and time at there. You will find out everything from You Tube videos. That will make you more understanding about your interest while you learning from You Tube videos. Please save your money and time.

The Bachelor of Animation has been fantastic in my opinion. I had three years of experience prior to my SAE studies, and I have learned so many new things. The animation lecturers are all very welcoming, are knowledgeable, and have great backgrounds in the industry. The staff in general are all very helpful and kind. Any complaints from students are taken very seriously, and the staff is always looking for feedback. International students are treated well. Very happy with my choice.

This place deserves 0 stars.I could give endless explanation as to why SAE is so bad but honestly I’m already too drained thinking about it. The fact it got essentially an entire cohort to defer right before major projects should tell you something.Even just seeing the replies to reviews on this is just the same empty nothing messages we always hear. Hype words and nothing to back it up really.Maybe one day I’ll actually be able to make a coherent post about the vast amount of poor practices this place has (one great one I do remember is a head teacher LAUGHING at a student in a public call when a genuine issue was brought up, only for it to never be answered)Take it from a student who regrettably goes here and can get many other students to attest. Don’t come here, no matter your discipline. Yes there are a handful of great teachers or facilitators or whatever they’re making us call them here (literally can count them on one hand from personal experience) but that doesn’t make the debt you have to get into to take this course worth it. Save your money, teach yourself. It’s what you’ll be doing here anyway.

From personal experience I don’t recommend wasting your time on SAE for video game design or animation. You’ll be better off finding good online courses and building your skills to get a job in the end, and in a much shorter period of time. Very few graduates get a job after studying in these institutes here in Australia.SAE spends so much money on marketing, while they invest very little on the outdated programs they provide. A quick look at the materials they teach the students basically say “we don’t really care”.It’s very clear they do what many other for-profit art schools do, they take on an excessive number of students who are not capable of or even interested in completing the program successfully in hopes of bringing in additional funding and profits.

The jokes that run this place seriously need to take a good look at them self, the fact that i was enrolled from 2016 - 2018 here, one of the staff here has told center-link that i was not enrolled here in 2016-2017 causing me to resolve this issue with center-link. there is a big problem with management here. At the end of the day when you see this complaint dont try to reply with some sugar coating back on my complaint, you know who i am and how much dramas you guys have caused me over the years being enrolled here. For example remember you guys made me repeat a extra trimester because you forgot to enroll me into my next core unit, i could go on all day but im done with this place i want to receive my graduation papers so i can forget about this place asap.

I am reaching out to any person considering studying at SAE to become an audio engineer, it is a lovely establishment and the teachers are very nice, But you are about to spend $40k+ on a sheet of paper which means next to nothing in the music industry (as i learnt the hard way). I studied audio engineering for 2 semesters, whilst working a ruthless part time job to keep money flowing in. After all that time we spent 90% of all lessons focusing on tiny things that rarely (if ever) matter in a real world studio setup. After leaving (I didn't complete the course after i had the realisation of what it was costing me for what i was getting) I have begun to establish myself in the audio engineering world and slowly but surely am building a clientele with the studio we are running. How did i get those skills in the end? I sat down with a professional mix engineer and interned for free with him for a few weeks (very blessed), not only was it free but it taught me more in a few weeks than i learnt at SAE in a year. If you are like me and are someone looking to get into the audio engineering industry, save your money and find an internship or intense study course with a professional even if it costs a couple of thousand. Reach out to a mix engineer you love and tell them you'll buy their coffees to sit in on some sessions. Do not go to SAE if this is you, you will without a doubt be throwing your money in the toilet, you cannot get time back.
