Hahndorf Farm Barn

The pony ride and animal feeding were great experience for the children. However the waiting time was quite long. Not much of the talk about how the place started or what the purpose of the farm. Seems like missing some personal attachments, it just like a commercial place where you charge money for the short experience. There is no introduction about the farm or the animals in the farm. No particular story relates to the business, the owners or the animals.

If you’re in South Australia, be sure to head out to the German influenced town of Hahndorf. Whilst in Hahndorf, we recommend visiting the Farm Barn with the family. It is a children’s farmyard and wildlife park but also a great place to play in the park and have a picnic.Whilst in the park, you can hold, touch and feed most of the animals. In the first space are baby animals such as chicks, and lambs and you can go in their pens and hold them.In the outdoor spaces, there’s animals to feed and oat such as cows, goats, deer, alpacas, ponies and more.You can look in reptile cases and also see plenty of birds.They also run a pretty corny led milking show and guests can have a go of milking the cow.In addition, there’s plenty more for the kids to do such as ride a tractor, mini electric diggers in the sand pit (all at extra cost) and play in the park.There’s lots to do and see, so you’ll probably find yourselves there are while so take food and settle in the bbq and picnic areas. It even caters to groups and birthday parties.Staff were friendly and helpful. We did find it a bit pricy, especially when you pay extra for all the activities too. But it’s perfect for a fun day out for the kiddies.

Loved it but take your wellies and rain coats in winter as VERY muddy! Very slippery in some areas. Paid for rides etc like diggers were very short in duration - too short for kids who take a few minutes to get used to controls. Animals well cared for and overall enjoyed it a lot.

Wonderful place to visit, especially for children.Some of the facilities could use upgrades.My granddaughters were upset because they wanted a pony ride which is only on weekends, public and school holidays. At the time we went many children were still on school holidays.Interaction with the animals is great.

Really fun place to go and get up close with all of the animals. Can stroke and feed pretty much everything including the reptiles when the handler has them out for the shows. Really think that there should be more supervision in the indoor petting area where the young animals are, everywhere we looked there were people breaking the rules - picking up, feeding, and being rough with the animals. Some parents need to teach their children how to play nice without grabbing and hurting the poor animals!

First time ever visiting this place, with hubby & our 2 boys. We won't be back, we both thought it was overrated.Probably better suited for children under the age of 8.Not suitable for wheelchairs or walkers.Expect to do a lot of walking as enclosures are large and far between.And wear enclosed shoes! Bring a hat too! My boys absolutely loved it. There are many animals to feed and pat. They especially liked patting the bay animals in the barn and feeding the donkeys. The tractor ride, excavators and pony rides all cost extra, which makes it a pricey day out. Not much in the way of lunch, so definitely bring a picnic lunch and grab a coffee there as the coffee is lovely and my son enjoyed his baby chino.

A good place that your little one can see, touch, and learn some animals. Also, some people have a party or function there, which is different.They have regular shows and talk about some animals. It may be interesting for your child. The other good thing that child gets to milk or feed animals.They have recently added a couple of new features like excavator and a small truck for kids to drive. My daughter enjoyed the experience.I found this place a little bit expensive.There's a carpark with ample spots. So, you shouldn't have any problem parking your car there.

It is a great barn to visit especially for kids. We visited the place on a weekend that will be Saturday.The area was really spacious however there will be fewer animals to see.I had a mixed experience as i liked the experience of seeing the animals up close to be with them and also to feed them.However, the charge per person was a bit high i felt as for me but it can be only for the betterment of the barn i suppose.Also there aren’t much animals or birds to see here but an easing experience was to be shared.
