Amazing to see gravestones of people who arrived on the First Fleet ! Well maintained grounds , informative signs at the entry , take time to explore this historic site. Easily accessible and directly opposite Westfield car park.

I've been here two times, when I was a kid on an excursion in primary school. We got to learn about the first fleet people who are buried here and some bush rangers. When the tour ended, I ran back to the entrance and tripped over a foot stone. My bad. The second time was just recently. We found a cabbage and a flower on a grave. Odd experiences both times. The history of the place is interesting. It is well kept. They had half mowed the grass when I visited so some of my photos turned out creepy. All I needed was a bit of fog to complete it.

I absolutely love this lands short history.I remember visiting St Johns when in school and it triggered a lifelong interest in our history. The 3 photos are of the marker, stone and plaque of Henry Dodd. Oldest known European marked grave in Oz.This cemetery is now well maintained, grass and weeds taken care of. My only wish is rejuvenating the stones that have been weathered to the point you can't read and appreciate their value.I love St Johns.Spend a half hour there.Back right for H. Dodd. All tours around Parramatta are worthwhile.

This cemetery is in a terrible state of disrepair .For such a significant historical site there seems to be little or no maintenance doneSurely more could be done by the relevant government bodies to upgrade the cemetery It is as old as The Rocks so why can’t we treat it the same way?

Convict history right in the centre of the city with Australia's oldest cemetery holding First Fleeter's graves. Tours run by the friends of St Johns Cemetery are well worth the donation.

The oldest remaining European burial ground in Australia. The burial site of Henry Dodd, a “First Fleeter” & “Faithful Servant of Governor Phillip” is located towards the rear. He was a butler who had ‘sound farm knowledge.’ Died 28.01.1791.

Firstly I’d love for more visitors to come along and bring awareness to the fact that this poor cemetery is in a state and yet it’s our oldest European cemetery with first fleet travellers. The grass was thigh high when I went and I couldn’t get to most of the graves. They certainly need a caretaker here but I urge others to visit and take in a piece of our Australian history.
