An unusual beach landscape that looks like a giant mushroom. The basalt reef has plants and animals that adapt themselves to the harsh environment. The marine life is protected for the future generation.

Mushroom Reef Marine Sanctuary
We had a good time here walking on the rocks during low tides. Kids are having fun looking for shells and catching small crabs. The downside is no toilet facilities and changing room, and very limited car parking. The sand is a bit rough compare to Rosebud. It is a different experience to an usual beach trip.

The tide was low, we snorkelled out and back, it was protected in the warm shallow water, very few fish or any other sea life to be found, then in-front of us was an eagle Ray about 2.5 metre span, just sitting in the sand.
