Hot Fish

This place has gone downhill since I was last here some years ago. A very limited menu, sickly-looking fish on display in a dimly-lit cabinet – which you can ONLY buy for $20 with salad – or what appeared to be pre- or par-cooked pieces of crumbed fish on racks in the open air that looked the least food-safe. I gave up and left as this just looked totally disappointing and knew how my meal was going to turn out if I continued.

HonestlyThe staff are unfriendly, hopeless and act as though they don't want to be there.Their yawning, not making eye contact or saying Thank you is pretty awful.Simple things like ordering sauces then getting home and finding they are not in the bag is really annoying also. How hard is it

Highly disappointing!Recently moved into the area, and despite the bad reviews, I thought I'd give it a try and see for myself.I ordered a piece of flake and some chips, and sadly, both my flake and the chips, were severely overcooked. My flake was very tough, and had no flavour. And the chips seemed like they had been re-fried.So I tried squeezing some lemon juice out of the lemon wedge onto my flake to see if that would help make it edible, and I couldn't even do that, because the lemon wedge was dried up! I spent over $25.00 and I ended up throwing out 3/4 of my meal in the rubbish bin. Waste of money, overpriced, and poor quality.

Hate to write this seeing as we love Conways, but tonight I waited 30 minutes for an order (that was only a fish and salad, fish and chips, and potato cakes). Went up to ask whether it was almost ready as only one person had been waiting before me and the people who came afterwards got their meals before I did. One of the workers went to ask one of the others about my order and turns out it’d been sitting waiting, all ready to be called out for who knows how long! The chips were soggy and the flake was dry and over cooked. Probably won’t be going back. The staff were not attentive unfortunately and food wasn’t as good as it has been

You’d think being right next to a fresh fish shop that the fish here would taste fresh…. Pretty disappointing that it didn’t. The portion of fish is very small for a flake, in fact the smallest of all fish and chip shops I’ve eaten at.If you want 1 dim sim or potato cake forget about it… they only sell it in packs of 3.

Great fish and chips hands down, will be a lifelong regular. Could do with consistency when it comes to how thick or watery the seafood chowder is. Shrimps on a skewer at $14 for 3 is a rort. Generally great service though at times staff can get confused and YMMV in getting information like 'what is the fish of the day'.. or 'FYI you'll need to refinance your mortgage if you're thinking of getting the grilled shrimps on a stick as you're buying only 3'.

Worst fish and chip shop I have been to - ordered fish burger and it wasn’t fresh fish but frozen fish pattie to which was still frozen inside.Dim sims and potato cakes tasted sour like they were out of date - spent $55 on different items and threw it all in the bin.

This was the only fish and chip shop nearby open on a Monday, so I decided to give it a shot. My partner was picking up burgers from another store beforehand as he doesn’t eat fish and chips, and unfortunately that other store’s estimate of when the order would be ready was incorrect, so I arrived to pick up my fish and chips 10 minutes later than expected, quite close to closing time. I apologised profusely on arrival. The person who served me did not respond to what I said. She just confirmed my order, moved the eftpos machine towards me and told me the total without making eye contact. She slowly collected my order and handed it to me without eye contact or smiling. I said ‘thank you so much, I appreciate it!’ She did not respond.Over the phone, I’d requested twice that the chips have chicken salt on them, but they did not. For $6 as the minimum amount of chips, I was incredibly disappointed at the amount, other stores would have given nearly double. My flake was quite nice. I was disappointed that blue grenadier was not an option. I do not recommend this place.

Having read the reviews first I have to say that we were somewhat hesitant at first at trying fish n chips here today but being Conway, we decided to give it a shot for a latish lunch. Sadly it turned out to be 'mostly' a disappointment. Based on the reviews I gave the flake a miss and went for the Atlantic Salmon with 2 different salads and my partner had a skewer of garlic marinated prawns. We shared some chips. My grilled Atlantic Salmon was a good choice, it was tasty and juicy. However my salads were disgusting. My partner's prawn skewer was average. The shoestring fries and not chips were throwaways, just tasteless. Lots of room for improvement here.

First Visit. First Impressions:I suggest that they change their cooking oil earlier on in the week, instead of serving up brown cooked products on your busiest days.If the oil was fresher - or changed earlier it have added another ⭐️I will also add that I noticed you have precooked fish servings …. Behind the serving counter with the potato chips WHY?? Raises more questions than there is answers.
