Gariwerd Motel

We stayed here for a two night weekend.Kelly and David, the Managers are an awesome duo. They kept up well informed with SMS messages before , during and on departure of our stay.Kelly has immense local knowledge of the place and guided us on the places we could visit.They are an eco friendly motel and Kelly takes great pride in it.The rooms and the place is old and dated, however the place was clean, so also the bedding and towels etc.The beds were very nice...firm and comfortable .. not slumped or sagging.Has basic appliances fridge , kettle , toaster, microwave , but no cooking facilities.Location is very convenient.There are fire pits if you want to indulge in some good old fashioned log fire and heat.As per local guidelines in Country Victoria ( which I am not too happy about), most interactions are contactless.However we did meet Kelly and gained a wealth of knowledge of the place, from her.Highly recommended for future stays.

We stayed for three nights to break up our drive from Melbourne to Adelaide and have a look around Halls Gap and the Grampians. The room was very nice - clean and suited our needs - including my son's medical alert dog! Staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Walking distance into Halls Gap itself if necessary. We liked it so much that we decided to stop back in again for two nights on our return from Adelaide to Melbourne.

Clean and with an easy access to the shops and eateries. Very good customer service. The toilets were clean and good water pressure in the mini shower. Just add a small coffee table coz you need to put cups/ glasses while watching TV.

Really enjoyed our stay. Room was exceptionally clean and everything you need in a motel. Managers were lovely - heaps of advice on hikes and even offered to drop us off for one way hikes. We could even have a fire to sit around at night. Would happily stay again.

Clean, older dated bathrooms but perfectly fine. Price was good. Location good. Service great.Bed was good, electric blankets turned on for arrival so nice touch, rooms had toaster, kettle etc.My suggestions on little improvements would be to get those led light stickers, they go over those lights so at night they are not bright. Mostly for the aircon. Bigger TV with chrome casting and a couple bottles of drinking water. Some low lighting for outside so when going to car you can see.

A snappy motel located on the way into Halls Gap, affordable and clean, you get exactly what you pay for. It’s cheap, but tidy.Service is top notch with the managers welcoming and available to assist with whatever you may need. It’s a great spot to stop in for a night or two if you are commuting Melb : Adel.A good tip if you are a light sleeper, reserve a room down the side or at the back, the 60km road into town is used like a raceway at 2am occasionally and the front rooms face the road. Otherwise it’s a great option for a cheap hiking holiday or family stay.

Very clean, lovely accomodation, good price, good location. Kangaroos and wildlife just lying around everywhere. Tony the owner is very friendly and the whole thing was just so easy with no contact check in and out. Halls Gap is a stunning place. We will be back and we will be staying at Geriwald again.

Arrived on foot , exhausted, with pack after completing north sections of GPT and found I'd booked the wrong dates. Kelly was super helpful and rebooked me for the night! The bed was comfortable and the room very cosy with plenty of hot water, most essentials, reverse cycle ac and electric blanket which was a bit luxurious after camping!There's fire pits also already stocked with wood, but I was too tired to use. Definitely recommend, especially for a quick recharge as part of the GPT.

Excellent clear & fun communication from the motel before & during stay, close to town, really nice although slightly dated room with amazing value for money, quiet (I knew the person in the next room & we never heard each other), electric blanket kept me toasty on chilly nights, the shower was small but really good (big shower head, good water pressure, perfect for aching muscles after a day of hiking), kangaroos & kookaburras all around, and Kelly was lovely to talk to with great local knowledge & tips. Will be back next time I come to Halls Gap- Highly recommend!

Stayed for 2 nights recently and can't speak highly enough. The rooms, although a bit dated, were big, immaculate and well equipped. The staff were great, even doing my laundry free of charge. We utilised the barbecue and the firepit. All in all a lovely stay and if I am back in the area I would return in a heartbeat.
