Warrumbungles Mountain Motel
Highly recommend this motel/campground if you are wanting to visit the Warrumbungles. This place literally skirts the national park and is a very short drive to all the trails and also to town. Reasonably priced unpowered camp sites with shaded and unshaded areas available. Beautifully kept gardens throughout the ground. BBQ facility available with very clean bathrooms. No kitchenette so bring your own burners. A few benches scattered around with a playground and pool. Owners are lovely and are almost always around during the morning if you need help. Stunning night skies - best star gazing location I have ever been to. A big open field where you can pull out your sleeping bag and lay under the stars. Almost guaranteed to see multiple shooting stars during the early mornings if you can stay awake. I would definitely come back again just to experience it all again. Thank you to Sally and your partner for making this place a great place to stay.

This is an excellent place to enjoy dark skies, witness zillions of stars just by stepping out of your room. Also hospitality is great , no discomfort as such. Bunk beds are a little hard but then when you look at the price it’s a steal deal.

Warrambungles Mountain Motel lies on the highway leading from Coonabarabran to Warrambungles National Park . The location is perfect for visiting the national park and for viewing the night sky because it is away from city lights. We stayed for two nights in the three bedroom unit. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the rooms were tidy. The living room, dining area, and two bedrooms all have air conditioning. We went during the colder months and felt really cosy. The kitchen included a refrigerator, microwave, oven, cutlery, and cookware. The linen was clean and fresh. The bathrooms had running hot water and soap/shampoo.The owners are incredibly accommodating and always there if you need assistance.

Great place to stay. Very friendly and unassuming. Just open the back door at night and you have perfect darkness to view the night sky. And Sally is an absolute GEM.Very highly recommended.

This was the ideal location to stop after a very long 7+ hours drive in two cars with our two dogs and trailer containing our immediate belongings. The lady we dealt with was just lovely. The rooms are a little older but we had everything we needed and the kitchenette was ready with everything you could possibly need. The area was so quiet we stay at the very end of the block of rooms. We were able to have a shower, sit and unwind. Then make ourselves a meal and had a great nights sleep waking refreshed for our last leg another six hours. We were able to take the dogs for a walk, they were able to stretch out in the room and had plenty of room to wonder outside. We had no WiFi available in our room and no phone service however we very much enjoyed being able to unplug after driving for two days.My only regret that it was very overcast and we were unable to see the night sky. We also didn’t have enough time for any sightseeing in the area either. If you are looking for a place to stay that is comfortable and away from city lights so you can watch the night sky Or if you have a couple of days to explore I honest would recommend this a place.

The most beautiful and underrated place to stay. The lady at reception was so friendly and helpful, could not fault service. Rooms are what you expect but very cosy with a beautiful view out into the grass/creek EXTREMELY clean and well presented. No reception but that was honestly the best part for our stay to disconnect. Amazing view of the night sky and only a short distance to the observatory. If you’re after peace, quiet and tranquility then this place is for you as well as a well serviced pool with a slide. Hidden gem, will recommend 100%

Very clean but basic rooms. Beautiful quiet spot. Camp ground next to motel. Plenty of great amenities for the kids such as swings, a pool with slide, trampoline and so much space. Just out of town, very short drive to get fuel or dinner. Also a short drive to the Warrumbungles and observatory. Will stay here next time we visit. Thanks for having us.

Thanks Sally for accommodating our party of 16 and catering so beautifully for my 50th birthday under the stars. We all had a super weekend. The kids loved the trampoline and pool. The adults loved the location, the beautiful grassy area outside the rooms, the comfy beds and your fantastic cooking. Thanks for helping us make it a very memorable weekend and special birthday evening.
