A HUGE thank you to Modern Times for sourcing and delivering the most beautiful vintage sideboard for me. I absolutely love this piece!A special shout-out to Pitimati & Helen for their professional, friendly and helpful advice throughout the process.So good was my experience with this company that I was quite shocked to read a couple of very negative reviews.To assist other buyers, I offer the following insight. The showroom is located on busy Smith Street with no designated parking outside & no service lane. To reduce the risk of injury/damage, the showroom staff are not allowed to lift large items e.g. furniture. If the buyer wants to 'cash & carry' their purchase, then that expectation is unrealistic. Instead, delivery is arranged to ensure that the item arrives safely, and it's well worth waiting those extra few days that it takes for the item to be delivered.Don't be put off by the negative reviews. Go along to the showroom & see the fabulous goodies on offer. It's a wonderful experience. Thank you!

Beautiful store and aesthetics thanks to great branding, marketing and local artists whose work is peppered throughout. Unfortunately, Modern Times falls short with its product offering pricing vs quality post “restoration”. It’s never nice having to leave a poor review and we’ve shy-ed away for a while but upon speaking to others about our experience, we felt the need to tell our story.We purchased a beautiful Danish dining table which came with 2 leaflets. We were told this had been fully restored. We didn’t check the table thoroughly to see whether the joinery and underneath the table matched the story told from above.Needless to say, we purchased this and had a friend pick up the table. Upon his arrival, none of the staff or men working at the back offered to help with the table, instead one of the staff responded that this was not something they would help with and instead watched our friend carry this on his own. Nonetheless, the table was successfully loaded and made his way to our place where we met him to help with the unloading. Unfortunately, one of the underparts of the table had fallen off whilst on its way to our home. The screws used to hold this piece together were not long enough and when the table was lifted this disturbed their placement which resulted in the piece falling. No Danish table ever used new screws or screws all together. Any restorative work on danish or 60s furniture should simply reuse parts and or bring back to initial make. The integrity of the table seems to have been compromised with a quick turn around “restoration”.We decided to call the store and let them know of our issue. We were told someone would be in touch, yet our call was not returned. We followed this up with a couple emails, which was eventually replied with somewhat of a story that we were at fault and that the table was perfectly fine. We asked to have someone come take a look at it as we were certain this was not our doing and rather a poor job from MT’s end; however, this was followed by a complete disregard when we were advised to instead find a way back to the store with the table so that the table could be assessed as our pictures were not enough.The short of the long is that we ended up having to fix this ourselves outside of modern times as the back and forth emails and calls were leading nowhere, and were more worried about what kind of job would be done and what blame would be brought upon us as they were not at all eager to help resolve this issue for us.Our recommendation is that if you are planning to buy furniture from Modern Times, do your research, look at every spot, look at the ways the original item would have looked on the internet. Definitely make a purchase decision knowing that there may be a chance something may go wrong, and if this does occur, the reality of your issue being resolved may not be great. There are far better options within a 5 minute drive that will give you not only present product in immaculate conditions, but also provide a lifetime guarantee which Modern Times does not offer.

Not great service. tried buying a painting. I emailed twice with no reply. Rang to be told the painting will be up for sale on Monday 12 pm but the catalogue will up Friday before hand. There was nothing on Monday morning so I rang and was told it won't be up till 12 pm. I was online trying to buy it at 12 om sharp . So I booked the painting but to pay I had to register. By the time I registered the painting was gone. When I was told I missed it by a couple of minutes. Fine my bad luck but the total lack of interest was disappointing. I emailed and rang so many times but no one really seemed to care much

Just bought a beautiful Ellie Malin print and amazing Hans Wegner chairs from Modern Times. Thank you Modern Times for making my lounge room look beautiful. Great service too from the owners when I needed my stuff in a hurry!!

We purchased a sofa from Modern Times' new brand Permanent Future In June 21. We're so thrilled with the customer service from the team in store to the folks who delivered and assembled the sofa. Jeff was prompt with responses and helpful in answering any questions we had. The sofa itself is beautiful - we've had it for 6 months now and we love it just as much if not more. We especially like that it was designed and built locally in Victoria. So happy to be the first customers for this new brand. Thank you!

Lauren was great help.She stayed very calm with flood of customers and served everyone very well. She was alone in the store due to Covid but never expressed pressure she was in.
