Lady Blackbird Sourdough & Pastry
We've been going every week but today was disappointing. Usually there's a relish of some sort served with the meat rolls....today the rolls were just dumped on the plate with no finesse or relish ....which made them a bit dry. The coffee was OK. Signed up to the Aviary card some time ago and used it for the first time today .....disappointing that when you are paying for the whole family that discount only applies to the card holders meal. I won't take it of my list of places to eat completely but won't be visiting so often from now on.

The five stars are for the truly artisanal approach to making bread here. They source local ingredients, no mass production and excellent flavour combinations. We drive the 30+ km just for this bread. The coffee is OK and cake is really good in their cafe.

My partner and I were recommended to this place by a friend so we thought we would stop in on our way to green hills. The customer service was excellent and our waitress, Samara went out of her way to make us feel welcomed and looked after. My partner ordered a milkshake and his eyes lit up when he tasted it. I ordered a cheese toastie, it was only a short wait for the food, and it didn’t disappoint! The bread was soft and cheese had melted into the bread, but it was also crunchy on the outside. Definitely will visit again to try one of their cakes that looked really good.

We just had breakfast at Blackbird. Service was slow, food was ok but lukewarm. My daughter got a kids size millshake which was tiny and cost $5.5! More than our large coffees. She also got the oats for breakfast which were inedible, made on water, totally tasteless and again only lukewarm. Coffee was really good. Still won't go back, there's much nicer places for breakfast in maitland.

Lovely hidden gem in high street. Everything smelt so good and fresh and also tasted fresh. Really friendly service and helpful will definitely be back here.

Was recommended to us by the host of the place we stayed at for a couple of days in Morpeth. Waitress and chef were both very rude and unwelcoming. Coffee was not great. Breakfast was served to us lukewarm. Cold toast and baked beans is not in the least appealing. The baked beans were grossly sweet with some sort of vinaigrette. I also do not understand how a place can be called an 'Artisan Bakery' and claim to serve a breadboard with every breakfast, when all we got was what seemed to be cold Wonder White toast with butter (none of the jam stated on the menu). We did not finish our breakfasts and will not ever be back.

Came here as an experiment, very disappointed. The two girls behind the counter clearly had no training. Ordered food and coffee, watched the coffee being made with skim milk (did not ask for skim) when questioned what milk was used the waitress had to check as she had no idea what she was using. Finally got what I ordered and it was horrible. Food took far far too long, it was relatively busy but no more than you would expect on a Sunday morning. hire more staff if you can't keep up and please please train them. Would not recommend at all.

We bought the bread at Olive Tree Markets in Maitland and it was so tasty we drove over to rhe shop beside Maitland Jail and Bought more the next day. No additives and gentle on stomach definitely our new local bakery

Lovely staff and gourmet pastries. I’m not sure how they do the pastry so well, it is divine. Friendly service. Can get busy at times. Highly recommend.

Hot, full of flies. Most amatuer meal I've experienced since the eighties. A true waste of a head of cattle and many chickens. Absolutely pitiful value for money. Stick to cakes and coffee, I hear it's OK.
